GM. Was driving last week so couldn't comment re Scott Schinder.

Just a few months ago, Todd had Vicki Peterson on, and played a Continental Drifters track.

I picked up a great compilation and was delighted to find that Scott put it together and wrote the liner notes.

I wrote him thanking him, and he wrote me back a cool (and modest) note.

He'll be missed.

To me Elvis is a perfect example of a guy with too many records and too much interest in music. His ambition is bigger than his ability. He just a few things great and when he does that, it's unbeatable. Not everyone can be NRBQ. Nick knows his strenghs and makes the most of it.

Only one movie this week, The King Of Comedy. Had never seen it before, but I did enjoy it. I remember people dumping on it for years and years, but I guess it's undergone some reassessing recently. I can understand why on both fronts.

King Of Comedy is a fantastic movie, and it just keeps building and building until that amazing ending of Rupert getting his shot. Hope I didn't spoil it! Sandra played a great, great role. I don't know why it wasn't as well received on release as it is now. It's not as futuristic as Network but it's close.

Man, I dunno. That little flourish at the end of the solo sounded like him. And that was certainly him on the Booker T cut. But I guess he would know.

I think the thing that dates it is the platform Rupert is trying to get on in order to "get his shot". Nowadays, the internet is flooded with all types of Rupert Pupkin's.

You're right, the message is the same but the media platform is different. People forget how powerful the Carson show was in breaking new comedians, if you killed on Carson you were in the big leagues.
