Belushi pushed for the Fear booking on SNL and arranged to have Minor Threat and crew to come up to New York to have a "standing" punk audience. This went out live -- there was no taping. The show only went to commercial after one of the kids damaged one of the cameras. Lee Ving actually stated at one time that he wished the dress rehearsal (without full audience) got out because it was the one chance for Fear to have complete songs played on national TV.

Once... Maxwell's... '88? '89? It was all aggro dudes. I ended up out front in the restaurant for the last quarter of the show. Just wasn't my thing at the time. Strangely, the woman I was with gutted it out -- she was a bigger fan.

As someone who LOVES FUGAZI +has seen Fugazi a few times/was there back in da day. . . I gotta say ---FUGAZI's deal with the various punk club bookers demanding that the
club can ONLY charge $5 for admission for a Fugazi show was kinda ballzy . . .bc Fugazi charged da club the FULL touring band "quote"/payment (on par with any other biggish) touring punk band...but the club couldn't re-coup this bc the admission was artificially low.

And its not like the club could make it up at the BAR / on drinks
bc Fugazi attracted a sizable straight- edge crowd😹

Dont get me wrong I love them but I know personally 2 different bookers who either lost money/just broke even when they booked Fugazi 🤣🤦‍♀️

Terre, were you at Maxwell's show in '88 or '89? If you were, IIRC, you could count the woman there on one hand. The women who were there were tougher than me... I made for the restaurant -- I was too delicate and my hair took hours to preprse.

Saw them in '91 at the Marquee Club on W.21st St. Ian stopped the show because too many girls were getting knocked around by the slam dancers. He divided the room between those that wanted to watch and those that wanted to slam dance.

I mean take clubs like Maxwells or City Gardens ---they're only "allowed" to charge $5??? How are they gunna re-coup the THOUSANDS of dollars they gotta pay Fugazi for their touring quote?!
If FUGAZI was legit doin it for da kids they shoulda said their touring quote payment is like $500 or less. . .to be commensurate with the $5 admission.
When u look at it from the da promoter/venue side. . . kinda disingenuous and I say this as someone who LUVS FUGAZI😘❣️
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm
coelacanth∅:

↳ Midge @7:39
i guess they usually got in free because they were friends with the bouncers, who were usually assholes.
can't imagine they'd pay just to hang with a crowd they're at odds with...
