The graphic tonight is appropriate. I learned my 33 1/2 proposal was rejected. I feel like a whore nobody wants. But not one of their 168 titles to date has been on a blues or reggae album. No Born Under a Bad Sign or Live at the Regal or King of the Delta Blues Singers or Two Steps from the Blues, no Screaming Target or Two Sevens Clash or Marcus Garvey or Heart of the Congos.
Not even Exodus, for chrissakes.

I know they started an international series. What was on it? Zombie or Guitar Paradise of East Africa or Gal Costa? Nope. It was (drumroll please) . . . Edith Piaf Recital 1962. I love the Little Sparrow as much as anyone, but still . . .
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21pm

They did a Cornelius and Tim Maia and believe it or not a Racionais MC's book as part of that series, although the latter is disappointingly mostly a novel about characters who make reference to the album

Just saw that Greil Marcus lost his daughter yesterday.
There is nothing worse than losing your kids. Nothing. It makes you want to turn in your membership card in the universe.

doctorjazz, Nope, not yet, but might have to. I have for the time being an extra Chromebook, which I can devote to streaming. But I don't find streaming over my "main" system all that satisfying. I prefer to listen over crappy gear, i.e., laptops. I do have a variety of FLAC files on a portable HDD that I can easily plug into the Technics and play.

I really liked the Putski, but this seems a bit sleepy to me.

It's not as good sounding as an SACD, but I really love getting it through my stereo (maybe my stereo isn't as resolving as yours, so the sound quality didn't bother me as much)

How do you link the stream to your stereo?

That's terrible news, Zip

It's not even about sound quality. My system has plenty of shortcomings! It's about the process. I like playing CDs and LPs. Plugging in an HDD and poking a couple buttons doesn't energize me.

LG: doctorjazz and I have the same SACD/CD player, which also permits streaming from certain devices via USB. It's a great unit.

Thx! I gaze at fancy streaming devices but haven't come to any conclusion, in part because of the conviction that in 5 years, something else will be state of the art.

I can't think rationally about losing a child. My sympathies. Horrible.

What Dean said-it had an app that allows it to stream internet radio, Bluetooth connect to a source, as well as playing silver discs

I haven't bothered to shop much for "fancy streaming devices," but if I did I'd aim toward Linn or MSB products. They are WAY beyond my budgetary constraints, but I'm not opposed to forcing my kids to miss a lunch or three if need be.

Thanks a lot, Gary! Excellent show except for that whole Duke Ellington gaffe. The diversity kept me on the string.
