For example, Evil Nasterisks!

What was the seven chord progression after the count?

Vermont Public Radio (which strangely removed the word "radio" from its name) has a 10-part series on the life and music of Julius Eastman, for those who want to get up to speed on his incredible work. I haven't heard it yet but hope to. www.vermontpublic.org...

Aha, excellent. Bookmarked!

Dropping the "radio" reminds me of Boston's public station WGBH's decision to drop the W....wacky.

This reminds me of a concert recording I have (of a college band I was in) where the rhythm section is playing and you hear me call out 1-2-3-4... and then horns don't come in. 8 bars later, you hear the pianist and me BOTH counting off and that time the horns come in (LOL SMH as the kids say)

VPR joined with the public TV station, so they wanted to have a joint name. The problem is that I would like to support the radio but not (much) the TV, and I don't know where my contributions will go now. I think a number of listeners are facing this conundrum, which may come back to haunt "Vermont Public," which seems to be missing a noun.

I think the R is begin dropped because programs are increasingly streamed and/or podcasted. e.g. "New England Public Media"

Yes, that's what they say too, but the problem is that the huge TV enterprise might overshadow the radio operation, which is much more essential to the state. Or to me, anyway.

Dean:

It's gonna haunt me all day. I'm sure it's a "riff" from an older classical work, just as "Gay Guerrilla" uses the Martin Luther "Mighty Fortress" hymn. Also, I didn't realize that Eastman sings Peter Maxwell Davies' "Eight Songs for a Mad King," a recording I think I have.

Ah, the age old conundrum about how to direct one's money.
I remember a friend saying he would not donate to support college athletics generally but he would to support women's athletics. (And then I thought: but won't the university just reduce the women's budget correspondingly and give money to the men's?)

...I think a lot about how geriatric & & bourgeois & trivial PBS has become in comparison to how adventurous & fun it was when I was growing up. (On now @ random : 'The Collagen Diet'...) Tho I'm still grateful for the NewsHour & a few things.

So I was listening to the stream via one device and set the reminder on another device and didn't realize the second device was also playing... until a moment ago when there were suddenly EIGHT pianos, four echoing four, and I hope Eastman would have been pleased.

There was an article in the NYT this week about all the steps that wine manufacturers might take to interest 20somethings. But they aren't doing those things.
Just like MLB complains that there are fewer Black kids and all kids playing baseball, but still insist on airing the world series during prime time and not, say, when kids might watch.

In my youth, some teachers would allow kids to listen (quietly) to the World Series on their transistor radios during class, because, after all, it was the World Series.
