Sounds like Egyptian Cigarettes were very popular in the late 1800's, but fell off around 1901, when most people seemed to prefer Turkish blends. So Egyptian Cigarettes were "cheap" in 1949, as they were out of favor.

Heather:

It's a plan!!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 10:28pm
Austin Rich:

The same team went on to make X Minus One four years later. They will re-make - sometimes with the same cast, sometimes with new actors and new FX - nearly all the stories they did on Dimension X. And, in some cases, with changes. As per the rule with Dimension X, I will air "official" re-broadcasts, when the show itself sent out the same story again to their affiliate stations. However, individual stations would often re-run their favorite stories, and would sometimes air shows out of order, or skip controversial episodes. So I will using the official broadcast log for the show, not really deviating from that order.

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 10:36pm

↳ Heather @10:31
I think Obadiah and I talked about this during the interview with him, but Dimension X is the pre-cursor to Twilight Zone. It's almost the same format, has a host's voice that is the same every episode, but with a different story each week. And most of the Dimension X stories have a sort of darkness to them, much like Twilight Zone. We know that Serling worked in radio before and after Twlight Zone. It's VERY likely that he listened to Dimension X, and a few years later, developed his own version.
  10:39pm
Heather:

↳ Austin Rich @10:36
I don't know Dimension X, or not well, but I always appreciated the darkness in X Minus One. There are some very early SoT eps where Jimmy Spaceboy reminds you was a clip from X Minus One. Back when we were actually kind of Sci fi/comedy.

There's a great Radio Series from the 70's that Serling did, "Zero Hour," which was sort of Twilight Zone for radio, but with a 70's vibe. I'm quite a fan, and was thinking about it for Dimestore... someday...

But Serling did a lot of radio, so I could probably just run through his entire catalog, and no one would mind, I'm sure.
