Frank, for me it was a round trip. Grew up east of Hartford. Was 10 and 12yo for the Bobby Orr cups, then we got the Whalers. Went once or twice a year with my pop with tix via Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. Then they moved and I was too depressed to care about hockey for about ten years. Radio host up here is obnoxious but, God help him, loves hockey. Pulled me back by the late oughts. Hating the Habs was a constant which made it easier.

McGroovey:

I can imagine a great cover of Where Were You as a slow lament, but I think the rrason most people want to cover it is so they can hit that chorus, in the established Hollies harmony way. And the feel of the rest of the song has to fit with that.

@Squints, interesting. I contemplated what I would do if the Isles ever moved (which was a definite possibility for a while there) and I came to the conclusion that I would either start rooting for the Devils or just not watch anymore. I could NEVER root for the goddamn Rangers!

Call me a whore, Frank, but if the Isles couldn't have gotten their new barn and somehow moved about 120 miles northeast, I'd be a Whalers fan again in a heartbeat.

I grudgingly concede the Lightning on account of their good organization and the Kings because of the big market. But I think it's a waste to have NHL hockey south of Denver or the Ohio River.

If you can't play on a pond, you can settle for a minor league club.
