Oh yeah, it's a real festive show this week. Lots of spoopy tunes lined up. I think I'll go back to novelty Halloween songs next year, though. I just can't quit 'em!

We let the Dr. do a lot of things, and we don't really question it. I'm fine with that; he's doin' alright, in my book, and that's good enough.

Hahah, I love the high camp of those Tim Burton Batmans.
Avatar 7:15pm

@SHANGRI: Sacrilege! That one ain't no Tim Burton! That one is a Joel Shumacher! Love Joel Schumacher for only two things: The script for The Wiz film, and LOST BOYS!!!!!
Avatar 🍒 Swag For Life Member 7:16pm

The Wiz is pretty dope.

Lost Boys is fab, too. I saw that in the theater, with my brothers, and we really bonded over that film.

I watched Lost Boys last night. I love the Frog Brothers!
Avatar 7:17pm
shangri-lounge:

Oof, whoops, hahaha!
Avatar 7:18pm
Sarcofiguy:

@AUSTIN: Lost Boys is such a time capsule to vampiric 80's mullets, and fashion!
Avatar 7:18pm
shangri-lounge:

I lump that whole era of Batman films together in my mind.
Avatar 7:18pm
shangri-lounge:

80s vampire movies are my favorite.
Avatar 7:18pm
Sarcofiguy:

@SHANGRI: Truth told, that's easy to do!
Avatar 7:19pm
Sarcofiguy:

@SHANGRI: My other fave 80's vamp flick happens to be VAMP with Grace Jones, and FRIGHT NIGHT!!!!!
Avatar 🍒 Swag For Life Member 7:19pm
Austin Rich:

I might have been just young enough to still imagine we were hunting vampires with my brothers in the forest behind my house...

The fashion in Lost Boys really makes it a time-capsule... though people dress like they are from the 80's now with no irony, so maybe it's not as much of a period piece as we think?
Avatar 🍒 Swag For Life Member 7:20pm
Austin Rich:

Grace Jones = xxx ooo. She can do no wrong.
Avatar 🍒 Swag For Life Member 7:20pm
Austin Rich:

Fright Night is very special, for sure.

Yeah, honestly the vampire gang looks like a lot of the Bushwick bartender crowd.
Avatar 7:20pm
shangri-lounge:

Oh yeah Austin! "You're so cool, Brewster!"
Avatar 🍒 Swag For Life Member 7:21pm
Austin Rich:

I see dudes who wanna look like those vampires all the time... in fact... I think I've seen dudes like that at Motorhead shows every time I went.
Avatar 7:21pm
Sarcofiguy:

@AUSTIN: The funny thing/irony of the 80's was everyone was so into vintage clothing, as well. I have this book (somewhere in the house) called Wild Style, where everyone is accesorizing their punk hair with vintage clothing!
Avatar 7:22pm
Sarcofiguy:

@SHANGRI: HAHAHAHAHAHAH! Love that Brewster line!
Avatar 🍒 Swag For Life Member 7:22pm
Austin Rich:

It's true! At the time, I got all my clothes second-hand. I was always a half-generation or full generation out of step with my fashion. And I was tearing it up and mixing and matching, once I got old enough to realize I could do that.
Avatar 7:23pm
shangri-lounge:

I love Fright Night. I've only seen Fright Night 2 once. All I really remember is roller skating vampires. (It wasn't great.) But, I'd really like to watch it again sometime though.
Avatar 7:23pm
Sarcofiguy:

@AUSTIN: Alas, as a poor-ish kid? My clothes was already "vintage."
Avatar 🍒 Swag For Life Member 7:24pm
Austin Rich:

Right?
Avatar 7:24pm
Sarcofiguy:

@SHANGRI: I still have FRIGHT NIGHT 2 on VHS! I love that silly thing! It so wanted to LOST BOYS, I swear. But, I didn't mind it at ALL!
Avatar 🍒 Swag For Life Member 7:25pm
Austin Rich:

My big move toward bow-ties and that kind of stuff was very practical: in the late 80's, bow-ties were NOT cool, not even among Dr. Who fans. So you could get them SO cheap, along with a corny messed up suit and a plaid dress shirt. These days, that kind of stuff would be very expensive, even in a thrift store. But back then, you could practically get it for free.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:25pm
Krys O.:

We had a great thrift shop in my hometown that would have sales. Fill a paper grocery bag for $5. The proceeds from the shop went to fund programs at the local hospital and the donations were from rich folks in Greenwich and Rye.
Avatar 7:26pm
shangri-lounge:

Can I come over, and we'll have a movie marathon, Sarcofiguy? Everyone from the chat is invited, of course. Provided they bring snacks!
Avatar 🍒 Swag For Life Member 7:26pm

That sounds like a rad store, Krys O!

I'll bring some Smarties and Licorice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27pm

Avatar 🍒 Swag For Life Member 7:28pm

I was the oldest in my family, so I got "new-used" stuff, of stuff from my Dad. My younger brother is the one who hated getting hand-me-downs the most, after it had been through me and my other brother, first.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32pm
Krys O.:

I wore men's jackets from the 60s to school in high school and my parents thought I was gay. Que sera. I did keep some of my dad's sweater vests and ties after he passed.
Avatar 🍒 Swag For Life Member 7:34pm
Austin Rich:

I have a jacket and a sweat from my grandfather. Sadly, they are not "vintage," or at least, not as old as I wish. But they were his, and love them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35pm

Oh, I do cherish my dad's vintage London Fog jacket. I think it was from the early 70s.

Avatar 7:40pm
Sarcofiguy:

@ANYBODY: Occasionally, I sift through the stuff, and luxuriate in it! I've got a stack of book, if I pull one the wrong way? It's like a Jinga TUMBLE about ta happen! HAHAHAHA!
Avatar 🍒 Swag For Life Member 7:40pm
Austin Rich:

I've worked in bookstores off and on since the late 80's, first for my mom, then for B. Dalton, then for Barnes & Noble, and now for a local store here in the Mid-Valley. We have TOO MANY BOOKS. Then we go to a thrift store, and Marla is like, "Uhm, do you need more books?" And I don't have a good answer.

(Same with comics and records. I have a problem.)

@AUSTIN: I've worked at comic book shops, book stores such as Borders (my fave), Barnes & Noble (that was a hell that I still have anxiety attacks over. Jeez that was such a bad experience). When I was at Borders I was the video guy, which was a bad/brilliant idea, cuz I love myself some movies!

B&N was sort of hell, in very special kind of way. I was in the music Department there.
