Hi Flash. Bruce Conner came to the Pasadena Film Forum sometimes in the 70's. I remember he had a broken foot from getting crazy at some punk show in San Francisco. Regarding Richard Brautigan - One day I went to visit an old roommate form Pasadena who had moved to Bolinas, a small isolated town in West Marin County. We were taking a walk one afternoon and he said "See that house with the porch light on? That's where Richard Brautigan killed himself." I too liked both of them a lot.

Likewise Flash It really angered me to hear how sadistic certain manly man-writers treated him. He moved to Montana, which was an ill considered choice, and tried to hang with all these rancher-writers who treated him like crap. They ridiculed him because he couldn't string a barbed wire cattle fence all by himself. I've strung a fence and it was really hard! Why should clumsy gentle soul have to do that kind of stupid shit?

This Shanghai Film Orchestra record came to me while I was hunting down various renditions of Terry Riley's In C, of which there's a great one here, but in some ways the standout track is this one, featuring wonderful use of gongs (raised and lowered in water to bend pitch) and bowed vibraphone

me too. lost a big beautiful white oak a couple years ago that I still miss. mostly sweetgums this time, so not the most treasured of trees, but big ones. old ones. only a month or so ago another sweetgum nearly crushed me & did crush my porch. i jumped out of the way at the last second

I think it was early 2015, It had been raining like crazy for a few days. I was having coffee with a friend when my mom called. She said the liquid amber on the side of her house came down across the driveway. She was freaking out. I told her to simmer down and I'd come over in the morning with my chainsaw and deal with it. The next day it had stopped raining. When I got there, I gasped. It didn't look that big when it was standing up. I called someone.

One day my mom told me my dad was digging in the front yard when a L.A. county tree trimming crew showed up at the house. It was about five guys and a supervisor. They wanted to trim the tree in front of the house. My day tried to tell the supervisor how to trim the tree(He had been a tree trimmer) The supervisor told my dad to butt out, he was the boss. My dad took a fighting stance with the shovel in his hand and told the supervisor he'd take his head off if he laid a finger on the tree. The whole crew backed off. They neve did cut the tree.
