Hi Kim and Greasers!
  7:03pm
Hopatcong Doug:

Saw Pharaoh at the Iridium in 2019. Was mere feet from the stage. Such a honor. Such a loss. Thanks for the tribute.
  7:06pm
Dean:

Is his family name pronounced SAWN-derz or SAN-derz? I know sometimes folks misspell it Saunders.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 7:07pm
KimSorise:

Welcome WR, DocJazz and Hopatcong Doug! Happy to have you here and hear! Enjoy
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 7:08pm
Pauly from Clifton:

Hiya Kim, folks!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 7:08pm
KimSorise:

I think I interchange the pronunciation based on words around it. Welcome, Dean

KimSorise:

I think living in the South too long has softened by nasal Michigan A. hahaha
  7:21pm
Listener Gregory:

I always think it must have been strange for Alice to play “Naima.”
Avatar 🥁 7:22pm
bigplanetnoise:

Thanks, Kim!!! Sounding great, as always!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 7:23pm
KimSorise:

Yes, I would think so - but everyone has a past. Sanders did name his daughter Niama as well
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 7:24pm
KimSorise:

Hi Bob! Nice to gave you back!

Hi Gina! Welcome back to Monday. Enjoy.
Hey Hey DJNGN! Welcome - good driving jam indeed.
  7:29pm
Dean:

Now that you mention it, I can just imagine how my extended family in the environs of Toledo, OH, would pronounce it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm
Gina Bacon:

Thanks, Kim! Happy to be back!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 7:44pm
KimSorise:

I know in Kentucky - folks say Col. Sawn-ders rather than Sand-ers... but in Detroit dad always says Fay-ro sAAnder-ers. haha
  7:45pm
Dean:

This '73 Sanders is reminding me of Anthony Ortega, even though he did not play like Sanders.

fay-ro, that's beautiful.
  7:47pm
Dean:

But this Sanders was recorded in '64, released the next year. Ortega's New Dance was '67, and he was recording as early as the mid-'50s.

Improving every day, Kim. Thanks for asking. Also, finally feeling like we're coming out the other side of a two-year relocation project. I'm finally unclenching and doing things again like...listening to radio shows!

It's almost some sort of joke that I've managed to injure myself twice during this whole deal. Maybe I should have just spent the pandemic hunkered down.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 8:18pm

Thanks, Gina.

Gina Bacon:

I know he was a big deal in your life, and with your Dad, Kim. This is a mighty fine tribute.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 8:37pm
KimSorise:

Thanks, Gina! Means a lot that you remember. It was really nice to talk with Dad yesterday about Pharoah's music and legacy. He was telling me about his long runs at Bakers Keyboard Lounge in 73 and 74. He went as often as he could.
  8:39pm
Dean:

I know Bakers only through James Carter's killer organ trio recording there. I can't imagine hearing PS there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:39pm
Gina Bacon:

Wow...that's a lot of exposure. He's so lucky.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 8:40pm
doctorjazz:

Aside from that melt the paint off your walls he was known for, he had a lovely, sweet tone when he wasn't breathing fire (not noted as often...)
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 8:41pm
KimSorise:

I'm sure mom was not too thrilled - I was a year at that time. haha - but yes, to be a fly in their grease.

Sure did, DocJ. His tone... Dad mentioned that yesterday.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 8:44pm
KimSorise:

"Fay-ro could fucking melt steel with his tone and sound so beautiful in the next few bars" - Dad (yesterday)
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 8:48pm

Your dad hit it on the nose, Kim!
