Austin Rich:

I used to go to so many more comics panels in college. I even presented an essay at a Florida College one year, on gender in comics. But I just live so far away from stuff like that now. Hearing stuff like this is really excellent! I need to watch more digital stuff, which I'm sure is happening now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11pm
Krys O.:

Excellent, chresti. I'm a big fan of underground comics and I got very wistful when she went down the list of the artists like Dori Seda....

Hi Krys and Wigglers. thanks for this. We have a lot of comic book shops in LA, but it's hard to find the cool stuff amidst all the superheroes. I appreciate the guidance.

Hello, Mr. Fab! Glad to share this.
Avatar 8:21pm

speaking of Women in Comics - Lynda Barry was one of my first fave underground cartoonists, discovered via the LA Weekly (along with a pre-Simpsons Matt Groening) as a young teen spending my free periods at the school library.

Mr Fab:

i went to high school in Sherman Oaks early '80s, but if I saw Marsha Hunt around, i wouldn't have known it as I hadn't heard of her. It WAS big news however when Pat Benatar was spotted shopping at the supermarket near our school. Tho I was more interested in Harlan Ellison's "Dangerous Visions" bookstore. Ever check it out, chresti?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:51pm
Austin Rich:

I only ever heard about that store, Mr. Fab. Was it cool, or... hard to shop?

I highly recommend the documentary, Marsha Hunt's Sweet Adversity that chronicles her full life.
