Hello Jesse! Hello fellow neighbors!

Great start to the show!
  2:02pm
listener James from Westwood:

afternoon, Jesse and all! It sounded like this once when I visited WFMU. Near-horizontal sleet when I emerged from the tube station.

I am in Estonia, which is quite close to Lithuania. Nice to hear a piece from there.

hey coelacanthø!
Hey Dave IV!
That's cool @Mr. Oxford, I didn't realize you were in Estonia. I have some beautiful recordings I was trying to find from the Alam-Pedja nature reserve, maybe next week..
  2:23pm
Mr. Oxford:

@Jesse, that sounds really neat!

mic_a:

I actually have to drop out (of society), but I'll be around in the archive.

ok mic_a see you on the archive and thank you for using the phrase 'drop out' :)

relishing these recordings today. the farm animals had me zoning out completely...except also made me want to hear animal farm by the kinks!
...unfortunately i'm within another's house and eventually my selections will be voted out

Mr. Oxford:

"Sounds of North American Grocery Stores Volume One"

Never thought a combination of those words would be intriguing. I love what I am hearing.
  2:57pm
Mr. Oxford:

It feels as if there is a drum machine in the back playing the highest bpm sample. Though of course it's not that.
Avatar 2:59pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

yeah I think this is maybe the only volume in that set lol. This recording gets pretty crunchy, starts to turn into a noise set around the middle.
  3:00pm
Mr. Oxford:

Love how Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" and the noise are competing for sound space. The noise is winning at the moment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm
drowsy:

Super88 is an Asian chain, cool to hear the speaking combined with Journey piped in for ??? customers? shipping crew?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm
drowsy:

Not that Journey isnt universal...
  3:07pm
Mr. Oxford:

@drowsy, interesting detail. Thanks for the information. I didn't pay attention to the voices/dialogues in the back when hearing the track. Now I want to listen to it again to hear which languages were being spoken.
  3:11pm
Mr. Oxford:

Interesting the way Jesse put it: it's putting oneself in another person's ear when listening to these pieces. A few years ago, I liked to record sounds in a factory or a marketplace with my poor quality smartphone. I would listen to these but later deleted them thinking 'why am I listening to this?' or 'nobody else would listen to these'. Now I wish I hadn't deleted them.

@Dave, I appreciate your freeform approach to napping across set lines..
  3:27pm
Mr. Oxford:

I am checking out Astral Industries Bandcamp right now and I have decided to listen to all 31 releases of theirs whenever I get the time to. Firstly, the cover artworks are beautiful and there seems to be so much variety looking at the titles. This track from Dialog-31 is already becoming a favorite of mine.
