Favoriting The Wiggle Room: Playlist from June 14, 2022 Favoriting

A different show every week! Rotating DJs include Jon Nelson's "Sheena 'ssembly Required" (Tape Manipulations, Digital Deconstructions and Turntable Creations),
MarkTime (vintage radio airchecks), and Krys O (aka Sister Krys - WFMU alumna 1985-1991, longtime Church of the Subgenius monk. Playing cinematic ephemera, schizoid weirdos, all styles served here). Plus: surprise guests galore. (illustration courtesy of https://www.jimflora.com/)

Hey ho, Mark-arino!

This is so bizarre - why would one station turn their programming over to another station? It wasn't even April Fools Day. Were they owned by the same company?

Esp. since KMET was full-on hippie "progressive" FM, and KFWB was, well, not.

"Topsy" Part 1 * Cozy Cole

Whoops! Part 2, I mean...
Avatar 🎸 8:08pm
MarkTime:

Apparently it was a "thing" in Los Angeles radio for a time. KMET was co-owned with some other AM station so I know not why. The second half-hour makes a bit more sense as many KMET album rock jocks and fans wound up at KSWD by 2009

Oldies station WCBS-FM in the 1970s would feature reunions of famous deejays from WMCA, WABC, and so from the early days of rock 'n' roll complete with old airchecks. Nostalgia was ramping up back then for the 50s.

"Tears On My Pillow" * Little Anthony & The Imperials.

In Chicago, WXRT used to have April Fool's stunts involving present-day jocks and stations

10 years ago, things weren't that much different (have there been any radical changes in music since 2012? Or 2002, for that matter?). So yeah, I can see how 1962 vs 1972 was quite the contrast.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:11pm

Hey, this is a "Flying Saucer" Buchanan & Goodman parody...

Listen to how good this read is. Not a single flub. What a pro.
Avatar 8:22pm
Mr Fab:

Krys O.: could be. Tho you know there must have been majorly confused listeners, a la Welles' "War of the World." Esp considering the chemically altered nature of KMET's listeners. They were probably paranoid already!
