Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:56pm Julie:

Well aren't you bright and early!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm MHLee:

My sleep / wake schedule is all messed up as I am dealing with wisdom teeth growing in atm which means nap when it gets too painful.
  10:00pm Robm:

Hey julie missed you last week
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01pm Julie:

heya Robm! Was SOOO sad to miss it but I had an emergency
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01pm Julie:

oh no MHLEE OUCH!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01pm Rich in Washington:

How much darker can you get than black?
The answer is none more black.
  10:02pm Robm:

@julie understandable
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm Julie:

hiya Rich!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm MHLee:

This is my kind of the show though. I'm a huge fan of the era.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm Rich in Washington:

Hiya, Julie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03pm Julie:

MHLee glad to hear that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03pm Derek Westerholm:

Hello there Julie! So sorry that you had an emergency last week. Hope all is well. Sending positive Sheena's vibes.
  10:04pm Robm:

@Julie so glad i was listening to WFMU last week to keep my mind off the sanity of Texas
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm Rich in Washington:

Gonna finally hunker down and shelve about three month's worth of records that are in stacks all around my studio while listening to this show.
  10:04pm Robm:

I meant insanity
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm Julie:

hiya Derek! Thanks! oooh Rich that sounds fun! @Rob even though it was unrelated I was a bit relieved to NOT be on the air on Tuesday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06pm MHLee:

I noted the other day... when I started school only Columbine had happened. When I left school we had routine gun/bomb threats.
  10:06pm Robm:

Yeah would have been a tough show to do, as it was a lot of djs were trying to keep it together
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm Rich in Washington:

NOT fun! I hate putting records away but I like having floor space even more.
But having a cool show to listen to helps immensely!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm Julie:

yeah sorting is kind of a drag but it's fun having lots of records to look at. Most of mine are still in storage. eventually hope to get them all out and shelved properly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm MHLee:

Chilling track to accompany the convo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm Yvang:

Alice ! I thot I heard DavyJones...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm Julie:

@Robm ha! glad you like it...I worry that someone else is doing the same but I kinda like it right now since the show is a bit of a time trip
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Maybe some CaptainBeyond would fit here someday...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm Julie:

oooh I do not know them! It sounds like a show Ed Norton watched on TV
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm PaulRobeson1922:

Good song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm Julie:

hiya PR1922!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm PaulRobeson1922:

Hi ya Julie! Nice show!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm Derek Westerholm:

Toronto police killed a 27 year old who was seen outside a school w/ a pellet gun a few days ago... At first it was believed to be a rifle, the fact that it was a bb gun did not come to light until later. The school had gone into lockdown. This was 2 days after the Texas incident. These waves are felt outside of America, too. www.theglobeandmail.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm Krys O.:

Hallooooo!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16pm Julie:

Bunch of people got trampled in Barclays last night after they heard what sounded like shots. Hiya Krys!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm Derek Westerholm:

Back on the track to music, great music for a Sun. night over here & great start Julie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm MHLee:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Have we got the Stream now ??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm Julie:

thanks so much Derek! Rev I don't see a disconnect on my end
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm MHLee:

@Rabbit I have the show, maybe refresh?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Not hearing Elton...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm Krys O.:

It's sounding fine on my end.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm Derek Westerholm:

My stream has been constant over here, no drops, no problems over here in Toronto
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm Julie:

Nope I've got it on my device fine
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm MHLee:

I used to have terrible issues listening in on a 2015 mac. I'd been ten or 20 minutes behind or the show would not load
  10:19pm Robm:

@Julie heard about that from last night
@Derek a 10 year old in Cape Coral Florida saud he was going to shoot up his school, needless to say he is in a lot of trouble
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

My bad ! Wrong stream...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm Julie:

was that the kid with the toy gun?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm Julie:

ahhhhh! that'll do it, Rev!
  10:20pm Robm:

@Rev so far so good for me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21pm Derek Westerholm:

This song blows me away every time. True story, I knew the cover that Marc Riley & The Creepers (Marc Riley, ex-Fall) did first. Came to Eno a bit later in the game, haha. Foolish me. I do like the Marc Riley version, too.
  10:21pm Robm:

@Julie don’t really know
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Yeah I was listening to the Rock'n'Soul stream ...haven't tuned into Sheena's much ! :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm Rich in Washington:

this guitar solo is my religion
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm Julie:

I was VERY late to Eno..for some reason I was under the impression he did snoozy ambient stuff...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm MHLee:

my religion is whatever aqualung is talking about
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm Derek Westerholm:

I associated him w/ guitar solos that were too long. Haha. I love this guitar solo now. Of course.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm Yvang:

He did as well
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm Julie:

@Yvang yeah and with a title like here come the warm jets I figured that's exactly what this album was. silly me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Think we got Fripp here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm WR:

Juanita and Juan making their fortune.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm MHLee:

It's took me too long to get into electronic sounds, but I came to age in the death of melody and I was sick of electric beats
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm Derek Westerholm:

Eno has made everything about music from Roxy Music onwards better.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm Julie:

hiya WR!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm Krys O.:

Yes, the Creepers cover is wonderful. I was lucky to have a friend doing a show on FMU my freshman year at Upsala and he loved Eno. He used Hear Come the Warm Jets as his outro song each week. His theme song at the start was Bonzo Dog Band's Intro & the Outro.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm Julie:

Krys, who was it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm Julie:

it doesn't help that all my sisters from TX are in town and they voted for all those craptastic guys
Avatar 10:27pm Kreightoven:

great show, really enjoying it tonight!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm Julie:

thanks kreightoven! does that rhyme with beethoven?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm Krys O.:

I used to hear gunfire occasionally from the streets of East Orange as a student, then later as a dj.

@Julie: John Morris. He introduced me to the station after we met in the cafeteria. Had no idea there was a radio station in the basement of our dorm. He was only on until 82/83, I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm Derek Westerholm:

Marc Riley's show on the BBC (on 6music) is fantastic. He carries on a lot of the traditions of John Peel, including amazing radio sessions with up & coming bands that instantly become your favourites thereafter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm Julie:

@Krys ahhh...bit before my time don't even know the name.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm Derek Westerholm:

That Michael Yonkers track was great... Only recently became aware of him & sounds like a fascinating wormhole to fall down
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30pm MHLee:

@julie at 10:27 Oof... my parents are just some sort of unclassifiable left-of-dems-on-somethings... my brother and I have a shared political inclination

Ooooh.... Gothicness on the way!
Avatar 10:37pm Roberto:

Have we no bananas today?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37pm MHLee:

I've said this on GGs show for sure, but Syd Barrett was my gateway into music... so yeah the pysch underground was my my listening for most of my formutative years
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm Julie:

speak of the devil, MHLee! hiya Roberto!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm MHLee:

@Roberto I believe I played 4 songs about bananas on Friday so Sheena's might have had a bit much
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39pm Derek Westerholm:

There can never be too many bananas
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40pm Rich in Washington:

AH, that reminds me, Haven't listened to your premier episode MHLee, connected to the stream on Friday just as it was ending.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm Derek Westerholm:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm Derek Westerholm:

Congrats MHLee... Very exciting!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm MHLee:

@WR it runs a little short as I rerecorded it and the archives didn't save correctly
Avatar 10:42pm Roberto:

MOAR BANANNAANA
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm MHLee:

This is definitely proto gothic
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm Derek Westerholm:

This song is so fantastic, too... Predictably (for someone who was late to Eno), I was late to Roxy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm MHLee:

www.youtube.com... nice little 15 minute video on proto goth... misses screaming lord sutch who I think should get some mention for theatrics but...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Mercy but - the look in Syd's eyes...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm WR:

When this Roxy Music album came out, I worked in a record store. Several of us would lip sync to this song with choreography and air guitars. The drama just demanded it of us.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm Julie:

like black holes in the sky
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm Rich in Washington:

I played that TVP song on my show a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't resist.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm MHLee:

I wish I could dress like syd... i buy endless paisley in an attempt
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm Julie:

MHLee that sounds like a Robyn Hitchcock lyric
Avatar 10:47pm Roberto:

There's a Textured Vegetable Protein song?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm MHLee:

@Derek thanks for the congratulations
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Well - Syd wasn't long for that MHLee.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm MHLee:

@Jule saw Hitchcock live in Dublin, great show

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm Rich in Washington:

I listened to your debut show in the archive, MHLee. Spledidly done!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm Julie:

Buffy was usually folkier than this. this is her weird album
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm MHLee:

I know electric music for the mind and body was also on vanguard and personally that's a top album for me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm MHLee:

@Rich Awesome! This week is accordions...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...looks like it's Buffy's song & Havens covered it...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm Julie:

hmm wikipedia says he wrote it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm WR:

Have always like Buffy Sainte-Marie but think I have not fully listened to this Illuminations album. Yeah RevRab, that was a Ritchie Havens song according to Wikipedia and Discogs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm Julie:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

MHLee - yes ! Electric Music FM&B a very early Psych album.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07pm Julie:

oh cool, MHLee
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09pm MHLee:

I bought it a while ago. It might interest you. There's also one on the estactic and esoteric roots of 60s music called into the mystic
Avatar 11:11pm David Shortell:

I just looked up Linda Sue Parker. She's the author of "Native American Estate: The Struggle Over Indian and Hawaiian Lands".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12pm Julie:

hi David! hmm..not one I'm gonna rush out and buy I'm afraid
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13pm MHLee:

I'm as far behind in my reading as my listening
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13pm MHLee:

But to be fair some of the books are ponderous
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13pm Julie:

as are some of the records
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15pm MHLee:

There are definitely albums I listen to a lot but have yet to soak in the intricate parts
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20pm PaulRobeson1922:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Geez - for Iggy's 75th recently - I listened to TheStooges' 1st album - Remastered - & really loud on headphones as I walked around. Simple songs, right ? But really listening to a good source still seemed remarkable...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm Julie:

I love hearing new things in music you've listened to for years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

KeithMoon (when still fully functional) will always make me stop in amazement.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36pm Aitch:

Record dealer friends just dropped by.
Well Respected Kinks, Transformer and Master of Reality, suits the show
Avatar 11:36pm David Shortell:

The day Syd Barrett died was the last time I went to CBGB. One of the groups playing was Anderson Council, who derived their name from the surnames of Pink Anderson and Floyd Council (just as Syd's group derived their name from the first names).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38pm Julie:

I don't have that Sabbath album, just their first one. Transformer is wonderful of course.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39pm MHLee:

What a coincidence @david
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39pm Aitch:

slowly replacing old ones, although I never had the Kinks, a comp from 1966?

yep en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42pm MHLee:

The Marble Index is my favorite Nico album
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42pm Julie:

I was sad when Syd died. Yeah I know he'd long stopped being Syd and I never expected a comeback but still hit me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43pm Julie:

Marble Index gets HUGE love from goths, but Desertshore is also beautiful
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44pm MHLee:

Desertshore was covered by Sleazy and his final version of throbbing gristle... it was what he was working on when he died
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44pm Julie:

Pete looks like Lennon in that photo of the Kinks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

All the early Sabbath with Ozzy is Classic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I have to confess - ! - tho I've never been one of those with any reservations about loving Nico - I am in fact still not completely familiar with all her albums. Which has the single virtue of the pleasure of them being ahead of me...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm MHLee:

I really don't know the Jefferson Airplane catalog beyond surrealistic pillow and volunteers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51pm Julie:

oh Crown of Creation is my favorite. Also Bless Its Pointed Little Head is an epic live album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51pm Julie:

Rev Frozen Borderline is a nice set with those two plus some extra stuff
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:
