D(iL), glad it was "bloody terrific" (being a New Jersey-er, I can't say "Bloody Terrific" without putting quotes around it, price we pay...).
SOK were lots of fun, non stop dance/energy show, went with my 28 year old daughter, she loved it (I told her it was "make up" for taking her to see Nels Cline once- dissonant. jolting electronic sounds that whole show, she wasn't too happy...). It was nice being to a ostensibly jazz show, and having the average age of the audience much lower than my age (which sometimes is at the low end of the age range at more typical jazz shows).

Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Handy Haversack:

Nice, Phillippe! Saw a cormorant yesterday, and I am pretty sure there was a pair of loons on the creek this morning. Passing through on their way north, I'd imagine.
Avatar 12:43pm 21:

Hello Mary
Avatar 12:47pm Mary Wing:

Hi there 21! Thanks for supporting the station!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:48pm doctorjazz:

I work seeing people, never actually had full isolation because I always had to go to the office. I mask as much as possible (though it's amazing how NY/NJ pretty much dropped masking all of a sudden. I'd say 90-95% of people I see now at concerts, stores, other indoor venues are not masked. But I just LOVE going to hear live music, so nice to be doing it again (hopefully not famous last words). I still use my N95 mask most of the time (have to take it off to eat or drink, of course).
Thinking it's about time to get a second booster, though...
  12:50pm rw:

Huh. Looks like the Sparks shows in LA are sold out. I've never been to a show at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery but the cemetery itself is pretty insane. Sounds like a fun one. Then there's Coachella but I'm not going to Coachella.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Michael 98145:

tree pollens are bad around here, so masking is just fine
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Michael 98145:

Indio is already experiencing a surge ..
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Phillippe:

Cool, Handy. We don't see loons around here, unless you want to count the people who live in my house. We have a pair of cormorants that hang in the cove -- luckily they sit on one of the other piers and do their poopin' there, cuz they are messy critters
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Handy Haversack:

Loons pass through here, Phillippe, as they often winter on salt water before heading back inland and north with spring.

We have tons of cormorants here once the spring gets going. I love them! I should send you some pix of U Thant island, which is tailings from when they dug the Queens-Midtown Tunnel. An artist erected metal scaffolding and hung prayer flags on it some decades back, and now it's a major cormorant and gull roosting site. There's a little eddy there that you can tuck a couple of canoes into and hang out to watch them, which is a lot of fun when there are chicks in the nests.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:55pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Good morning-ish, Mary! And all Whatever'ers!

  12:59pm Robm:

@Doctor jazz i carry my mask with me if i walk into a library or go get coffee or go to a mall
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:01pm doctorjazz:

  1:06pm David in London:

Back in the room. On the train and armed with a new coffee machine.

Hey Phillippe. Hi S&M&S.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Phillippe:

Yeah, Handy, those cormorant nesting places can turn into a mess. They've taken over a small island in the Bay, from what I've heard. Any of those roosting places can get disgusting. I was in a part of (redacted) that was on the migratory path from (redacted) to (redacted). There weren't a lot of resting places on the voyage, but the (redacted) that I was on had trees lining the sidewalks and a very large (redacted) that had a wide mesh that was perfect for birds. During migratory season, people walked down the middle of the streets instead of on the sidewalks because there was so much bird doo-doo dropping from the trees. They had to use a bobcat every couple days to remove the poop from the base of the (redacted)
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:07pm Handy Haversack:

I can tell that's not a knee-jerk redaction!

When playing 'Fast Car' people always come up and tell their personal stories to the song. One radio DJ told she opened every show with the track.
It seems to have touched many people deeply.

Bubblegum version.. how weird.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:36pm doctorjazz:

I thought of as more of a Disco/dance version.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Phillippe:

This would've been a great addition to one of the Susanna Hoffs/Matthew Sweet collabs
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:38pm doctorjazz:

Hope the car can keep up with the drums here...
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:39pm doctorjazz:

My daughter is obsessed with All Time Low, lots of them in the sound here...
  2:39pm rw:

This is the best and worst version so far.

Avatar 2:40pm Mary Wing:

The worst version didnt get selected, heh.
Avatar 2:40pm Bas NL:

I think she used to be homeless at the time of writing the songs?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:40pm unpopularfred:

I'm with rw, it sucks, but I'm glad it exists
Avatar 2:41pm Mary Wing:

And now we will have some other opinions on fast cars...

Blink-182 is the originator before All Time Low (having gone through the All Time Low phase, and many similar bands, with my daughter, I actually liked the Unwell version. I have the distinction of having seen ATL 3-4 times.
Love the Buzzcocks!
  2:42pm rw:

THIS one is SO GOOD!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Mx. Baba Bee (e/they):

Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Phillippe:

Have to admit, there wasn't one I liked better than the original
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:43pm doctorjazz:

The Foxy Brown Reggae version was quite good (Reggae versions of pop tunes generally tickle my fancy).
Avatar 2:43pm Bas NL:

Great change of lane!
  2:43pm rw:

Haha, Mx. Bee. I know that drive!

Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:44pm chris in the redwoods:

Foxy Brown and the Buzzcocks versions come close, but same here, Phillippe.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:44pm doctorjazz:

Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:47pm doctorjazz:

The Chapman version is hard to beat, I agree.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:48pm chris in the redwoods:

oh, I guess the Buzzcocks were doing a different tune! ha. interesting. :)
  2:49pm rw:

Mary, I'm digging the post-3oaK. Nice addition.
