This is great, but a missed opportunity to call it "The Synthesizer's Apprentice."

Scott my kids asked me this morning what "Brainticket Part II" is about, and I had no way to answer them.

Hello Scott and Scottifiers!

I heard that too, abbazabba. Scott - are you still looking for new members in your flock? Ordinarily I like to hangout with pants but I trust your direction.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm ChukAmok:

Are you not aware of Micah's show from last night Scott?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm The Oscar:

WHOA-- I had this Bobby McFerrin cassette as a kid, and haven't thought about this track in *decades*!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm Carmichael:

Heya Scott and rockers. The RT show Saturday night was fantabulous, thanks for asking ...
Avatar 3:14pm abbazabba:

hahaha Tim! That's what I'm talking about! I'd like to join too.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm tim from washington:

ChukAmok - Don't feel silly. Just look at the titles on the playlist: The Sorcerer Revisited, Simple Pleasures, Electric Love. All pretty revealing if you ask me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm Carmichael:

I prefer the term "posse".

  3:26pm The Butterman:

Scott, let’s just say your not the only bloke named Scott Williams. Another Scott Williams had a successful nude massage sex cult down under if I recall properly.
Avatar 3:27pm abbazabba:

"Down Under" in more ways than one, Butterman!
  3:28pm The Butterman:

Abbazabba! I thought the same. Hey now!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm tim from washington:

It makes total sense now! Micah really is the leader of the nude men massage cult but he conveniently used Scott as his red herring. Damn, so obvious....
Avatar 3:30pm mb:

Shoutouts to Echo of Moscow (radio). The Kremlin shut the freeform station down today. Can still get them online if you have VPN, tho.

@Carmichael That was technically the first movie I ever saw on the big screen-- my parents took me with them to see it at the drive-in as a baby, where I'm told I was alert and attentive the entire time!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm tim from washington:

I'd appreciate it if our maligned Volunteer Wrassler would clear his name on air while graphically denying his involvement in a all male nude massage cult.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm The Oscar:

I just wrapped my latest rewatch of Twin Peaks seasons 1 and 2-- the back half of 2 drags as much as ever, but this story is definitely a highlight.

THIS SONG!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm _Ike_:

Dang, I really thought Station Manager Ken was more likely to be the one with the nude massage cult.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm Yes:

hey all
  3:38pm ry:

i completely forgot about that twin peaks episode lolol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm mrdonutsu:

I love how Jerry Horne turns into a completely stoned out version of my dad in the return. T
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm Carmichael:

I rather enjoyed the Foghorn Leghorn impression.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 3:40pm Gurldoggie:

NO IDEA what was going on in that Twin Peaks thing, but the theme music remains amazingly evocative. They could be doing a dramatic reading of an Orville Reddenbacker TV commercial and the music would still give me chills.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm tim from washington:

I think there needs to be a Dougie Twin Peaks spin off.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm ParUbi:

Hey hey thern
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm The Oscar:

I'm just glad they pulled off the West Side Story reunion in those episodes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm tim from washington:

Oh man, Foghorn Leghorn. Now, that's the kind of hero we need right now!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm Handy Haversack:

We have winston legthigh -- that's pretty good!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm The Oscar:

Jerry was David Patrick Kelly-- great "that guy" actor!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Carmichael:

When your a Tamblyn, you're a Tamblyn all the way ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm common:

agreed@The Oscar. think he was in dreamscape too?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm goldenrules:

it'd be fun to read more liner notes that strongly disagree with the record itself
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm tim from washington:

I'm like you Scott. If everyone dislikes it, then I'm probably going to like it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm tim from washington:

This is a for real comment but didn't Bobby McFerrin play with some far out jazz dudes early in his career?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm ChukAmok:

Ben Horne's brother Jerry was played by David Patrick Kelly. In addition to 'The Warriors' (and many, many others) he played the villain opposite Dennis Quaid in 'Dreamscape'; a movie that scared the daylights out of a young ChukAmok.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm ChukAmok:

Oscar and common beat me to it! Apologies for redundancies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm The Oscar:

I've always thought Bobby McFerrin gets kind of a raw deal-- the single was annoying, but the dude has a crazy talent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm Carmichael:

He was also in the Ben Stiller film Flirting With Disaster, as one of Stiller's possible relatives. "You got kind of a Hebe look to ya, boy."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm Carmichael:

Hey, Bobby McFerrin went to my alma mater, CSU Sacramento!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Carmichael:

And this sounds Stereolabby.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm _Ike_:

I don't remember Flirting with Disaster very well, but Ben Stiller seems to have become an excellent director if the first three episodes of Severance are anything to go by. It's great so far -- it's about people working on the "severed floor" of a mysterious corporation, and that's as bad for them as it sounds. (Unfortunately it's on Apple TV+, so Mark Hurst would not approve.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm Handy Haversack:

Was thinking the same, Carmichael.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm Yes:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm DjLorraine:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm tim from washington:

You're welcome, Scott! Enjoy the PNW beans. Also, I picked Kapt Kopter last week. It's great!
Avatar 4:18pm UFOspecialist:

You know, I am through with Buzz as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm brainiac:

HEY, I liked that Dan cover. And I like Scott.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm brainiac:

Just got home from my colonoscopy and the Propofol is wearing off. But after reading Carm@3:52, I remembered the office was jamming classic rock at obnoxious levels. The last song I remember hearing before going into the room was Flirting With Disaster.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm Scott Williams:

DJLORRAINE! I've been looking for you - to THANK YOU TOO! For the lovely and delicious beans, in not just the green but also the red bag, and even also ginger tea! Thank you!!
  4:24pm Jackie G:

Scott, do you have a bone to pick with U2?
  4:25pm The Butterman:

Brainiac, propofol? You’re just like Michael Jackson.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm brainiac:

I ask for a bottle to go. They thought I was kidding.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm Scott Williams:

Jackie G, I prefer to ignore them, but I also don't understand your question
  4:27pm Jackie G:

@brainiac: did they find that Dylan CD yu've been looking for?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm tim from washington:

@brainiac - did your doctors want to take a look at the inner working of a bona fide CHAMP?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@brainiac - Glad to hear everything came out alright.
  4:29pm Jackie G:

Scott, The question came up on Clay Pigeon's show the other day about why U2 is so unpopular these days. He said to ask you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm brainiac:

Hah, that's funny Jackie & Tim & Ken. Actually the doctor thought he was a bit of a comedian. He said he was sorry he forgot to buy me flowers.

I told him that's ok, just don't forget the lube.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm Handy Haversack:

4:30. The system works.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm The Oscar:

Two birds, one stone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm tim from washington:

When I entered my 40s, an older friend of mine recommended treating doctor visits like dates. Bring a bottle to share and enjoy it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm Scott Williams:

Oh Clay Pigeon said THAT, did he?! Eh, OK he's onto me. I just don't care for Bono much, got nothing against the rest of em, and liked their Gloria/NY Day era
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm Bimbus Bambus:

Holey moley!
  4:33pm Jackie G:

RE: U2 My daughter said when U2 just uploaded their CD to everyone's smart phone that time, it threw everyne into an uproar like, 'How dare they!!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm Scott Williams:

Handy & Oscar, been awhile, eh?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm Handy Haversack:

Sounds brand new, Scott. Real nice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm Scott Williams:

@Jackie G oh yeah, I hated that move
Avatar 4:35pm BriJet:

Hiiiii
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm Handy Haversack:

Also: I view WFMU's role as partly to make sure I never have to hear U2 ever again. So my reflection of Clay's question is: why have I heard U2 lately?
  4:37pm Listener Robert:

What if it's Negativland's U2?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm nathan:

how did you not play the "mole in a hole" song from Hokey Pokey? would have perfectly completed that song trilogy
Avatar 4:38pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

holy crap i am LATE.
Avatar 4:39pm UFOspecialist:

That sounded like a cassette case dropping???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm Bon Boudica:

What was the soundtrack just playing in the background? (not the one playing right now)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm The Oscar:

Years ago there was a local TV ad for a newly reformatted radio station which flashed a bunch of different bands' logos, and I SWEAR TO GOD the U2 logo they used was the Negativland cover, and I've never been able to find anyone else who saw/identified it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm brainiac:

@Bon: Pete King And His Orchestra - Cast Your Fate To The Wind (1969). Wasn't it great?

Rich, I think it goes live on his page on Friday. Bookmark it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm brainiac:

@Handy: At first I thought you were showing badges of all the shows to which you contributed. Did I mention I'm on drugs?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Scott Williams:

Hiya Chuk! Grind away, pal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm Handy Haversack:

brainiac, maybe if we sell the left over drugs, we can get badges for all the shows. It's the perfect crime!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm brainiac:

That sounds like a genius plan, but I was instructed not to conduct business for the rest of the day.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 5:00pm Gurldoggie:

This is one of those periodic moments on WFMU where I have to ask myself “is my radio working?”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm Michael 98145:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm Scott Williams:

Cherish those moments, Gurldoggie
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm brainiac:

@Gurldoggie: Is your refrigerator running?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04pm karlward:

Times like this I shout at my radio, I shout "WORK HARDER!" Also, my radio is the Internet. I am shouting at the Internet. Not only does the Internet not listen, the Internet just will not work harder. Maybe that's a good thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04pm Carmichael:

Yieshhh, thanks for the Doom & Gloom From the Tomb, Scott!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm brainiac:

I'd like the ability to upvote comments. Scott, could you make that happen, please?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm Carmichael:

btw, RT brought out early Fairport drummer Shaun Frater to accompany him on harmonica. They sang Who Knows Where the Time Goes, among others.

Yes, both radio and refrigerator are working fine, and apparently vibrating at the same frequency!

Shakey's was founded in Sacramento, where Brainiac and I are located. I remember going there across from Sac State to listen to dixieland jazz. My dad would bring 6 kids, drink beer, eat pizza, and come home with 6 kids.

@DjLorraine: As Carmichael could have told you, Sacramento was the home of the very first Shakey's, and I live but a few scant miles ...

And there he is. Thanks, Carm!

Galactapus is my favorite band of the day! Reminiscent of Danny Elfman on some combination of muscle relaxants and speed.

@Gurldoggie - I just looked up Wall of Sound. I had no idea that it is down the street from Neumos. I'm going to a show at Neumos at the end of the month so I will stop in Wall of SOund before hand.

I only remember going to Shakey's about 2x. But i visually remember what their pizza looked like.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm Handy Haversack:

But *what* combination, Stevel? That seems key!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm brainiac:

I am harboring a suspicion that DJ Scott mixed the vocalizations of a cat in heat into that Nov3l track, but I'm not going to be the one to say it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm tim from washington:

@gurldoggie - I was afraid you were going to say that ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm Carmichael:

Molly Ringwald's father organized a banjo group that played at Shakeys. That was cool stuff back in the late 60s.
