Ken!! I was able to listen earlier today! I find it to be a very potent listen, enough i think to last for more than a year into the future, though I will hear more and add to that! I am not sure how to thank you enough, but hopefully this show thanked you for itself: you might have surely been able to experience many of the natures of this collage!

Oh there was a caller right here, but I couldn't get her to agree to be on the air. She had a lot to say about this "CD"

Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

She wanted to hear the loving kindness talking better
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5/16/18 5:27pm
northguineahills:

Uhhh, she was a psycho, and cheated on me a few times, and pretty much only used me a presentable bf for her mother. The silver lining is, I was so devastated that I went on to myspace, did a search for Jodorowsky and Deerhoof (I was drunk), and found my now wife. It took two months for her to respond, but a few months after that, I made friends w/ a musician who was touring NYC (Antigua Automatico Mexicano) who lived in her city (Monterrey, Mexico), and hooked me and my dj partner up w/ gigs there. The rest is history.

Document is weird for me. Nobody else in my high school had that record, so that marked me as a weirdo, but also got me some respect. New Order worked too. I guess that set me on the path to WFMU, but those early steps are embarrassing

I'm half deaf in my left ear (born like that, and ruptured my tympanic membrane as a kid), but oddly enough, it's the best ear for detecting perfect pitch. Of course, now days, my tinnitus creeps on me anyways.

I was in the hospital for a month after being born so i think i connect with that type of basic soundwave in a specific way! I am not certain what was there, but there must have been some sound-producing devices around.

I almost died before seeing Glenn Branca for the first time: as I got on a train, my sleeve got caught on something. I couldn't get in, the train left the station and I was stuck. I was thrown off on a foot wide stretch between the track and a railing, to screaming bystanders. I took the next train, got to the venue in time for Branca's wall shaking 8th symphony. Still, a close call. On Halloween, to boot

I am really shocked as the loss of the concept of "configurability" in modern software. I tried a newer mail client for my handheld computer, and it took away the ability to automatically check for email any more frequently than once every 15 minutes. Why not just let me pick any value?

My computerized piano has a metronome feature. You can change the BPM. Good. You can add a "ding" every x beats, i.e. to sound out each measure. Good. But you can't raise that value above 6. 6! Have they not heard of 7/8 time? I can't double the BPM and change 4 to 8 to hear the half beats...because, I can't enter 8. That's bigger than 6. WTF. It should allow ANY number. It's just a fucking computer. It's no harder to count out 8 than 6.

I remember when limits like that were necessitated by hardware limitations. Like if it had only 3 bits available, it could go from 0 to 7. Nobody is using octal half-words these days, I trust.

Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Yes, I'd thought of that, and that still couldn't justify no "7" option. If it can store 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6...it could at least also store a 7 and still fit in 3 bits. But yeah, it's from 2012, so it seems unlikely that's the limit!

I once wrote a Windows program and explained the configuration to one of our students.
He yanked the keyboard from my hands stating: "No, no! Don't change anything! Just hit 'enter' everywhere; works most of the time!"
No...

People preparing their taxes in programs that let you view one "question" or number at a time. One giant 2400x1600 pixel screen and you are allowed to view one number. How can people make decisions without having tools that let them see and adjust everything? On a spreadsheet you could see the ENTIRE project at once. When a 500-page law passes, I read the whole thing. Then I'm confused others who are affected by it haven't. Stumps me. The tools and answers are right here, yet so many people just read the feed, watch the tube, follow the commands...

My complaints about software is why I end up writing my own a lot of the time.

BTW, NOTHING in the podcast world is remotely as good as this WFMU playlist/chatboard. That Audience Engine project needs attention!

Exactly, on writing my own software.
Speaking of fitting numbers: "Radiation meters in the extended Chernobyl area have been reading higher and higher, with many of them reporting numbers of 65500 nanosieverts/hr." ... "Digital devices often store numerical values in data cells called a "double" (two times 8 bits)." ... " ... "The largest number it can store is (2 to the 16th, minus 1, which comes out to) 65535... which rounded down to the nearest hundred is 65500..."
