Fabio and all my Failsafes. I feel stronger already.

Hi how are you
Just come back from a reading poetry evening in Paris with Piero Heliczer poems. Goes well with these sounds right now.
Think am gonna eat a Ferrero Rocher with some coke.

Avatar 🎸 3:18pm TDK60:

RIP Gary Brooker. Great unusual rock band, Procol Harum was.
  3:19pm SRX:

Melancholy man :(
Avatar 🎸 3:19pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Someone get them weirdos a sandwich
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm David (in London):

I saw Procol Harum a few years ago, and Gary Brooker had been to Buckingham Palace that afternoon to receive an OBE from the Queen. He had it pinned nonchalantly to the lapel of his jacket. Very cool.
Avatar 🎸 3:21pm Bas NL:

I hope the Starving Weirdos never release a 'Greatest Hits'... Wouldn't sit well.

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:40pm Ike:

I may be pedantic but I never call my fuzzbuckets "fur kids" nor am I their "daddy". These purring weirdos could be my familiars, though. Just not family.
  3:43pm Robm:

@Handy water just went down the wrong pipe:)
  3:44pm Derbs:

Wierding Module- a Dune reference?
  3:44pm Robm:

@Ike you have a point
  3:49pm Brendan:

Just back from the dentist office. A wonderful man with diabolical music piped into his office. I think I would’ve rather heard him say “is it safe?” with a drill in his hand. Really appreciate that the first set of STF featured none of “the soft rock hits of the 80s for the contemporary workplace, never too loud”
Avatar 🎸 3:51pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

This is even more stretched-out than the M.Kagel stuff I've heard already, which was........ fairly bloody stretched out....
Avatar 🎸 3:51pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

a good thing absolutely

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:59pm Handy Haversack:

My excerpt is a killing word ... !
  4:00pm Baby Bot:

I can imagine that editing this stuff takes more mental energy and torment over each decision than any 'normal' music or field recording.
Avatar 🎸 4:03pm Bas NL:

I'd love to see the score to this..
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:04pm Handy Haversack:

It is in no wise a judgment on this track that I have to run the vacuum now.

Hey, on the bright side, maybe the resonant combination will open a portal to someplace!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:08pm Krull Sagan:

Weirding Module (& all transmissions of failure) well received here on Arrakis! Or is it western Arizona? Anyway, truly music from the year 10,191. Greetings all Failures! Truck lurking

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm David (in London):

Hey Krull.
  4:19pm Baby Bot:

@Krull do by chance mean truck convoy lurking? 'It should be
arriving in Lupton, AZ right now (coming from Kingman.)
  4:20pm nic:

love this!!!
Avatar 4:21pm andywing:

Gentle ambience for a not so gentle day.
  4:24pm Baby Bot:

“Kingman, AZ Crazy Fred’s truck stop and Rebel Fuels is bringing a tank to the convoy and donating a total of 25,000 gallons of fuel and they are prepared to stay all night refueling. Also, The family with America Pizza has been cooking all day in their 1000 pound smoker to feed everyone. Big feast when they roll in.
I love America."

Highway Patrol is passing trucks through without normal inspections giving their blessings.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:24pm Krull Sagan:

I’m at Quartzite, Baby Bot- what convoy?! Kingman is special

I love the desert, particularly the painted desert and of course the canyons. I lived and painted around there while auto-living.
If one wants to feel what spiritual presence is then visit the NM and AZ , UT deserts.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:35pm The Count of Al Dente:

That People's Convoy, what a load of ignorance. I guess they don't realize yet how serious the pandemic is, or what that word even means.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:36pm The Count of Al Dente:

Yes Fabio, that is a good movie; dig Vigo. Eastern Promises is really good too.
  4:36pm Keith the mothslayer:

History of Violence is a must see if you want to understand the dark places of the male psyche.
  4:36pm Tony:

Krull, did you see the MAGA RV Park in Quartzite? I drove there last year.
  4:36pm Baby Bot:

The convoy is more about ending the State of Emergency Count.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:37pm The Count of Al Dente:

I get that, but my obscure point is that we still need the State of Emergency. Otherwise the virus will keep spreading.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:37pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Count - Mark Hurst found a cartoon that seems to reflect their point of view. www.wfmu.org...
  4:38pm Tony:

I meant I drove through Quartzite last year. And that convoy must have passed right by me if it's going from Kingman to Lupton. I didn't hear about it.
  4:38pm Baby Bot:

DC already dropped their mandate after the rally there against the mandates Jan. 23d. Facts and truth are a wonderful thing.

I think it was the early 90's? There was an Automat in an episode of Tales from the Crypt!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:39pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Fabio, thank you!!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:39pm The Oscar:

Afternoon! I was down in NYC for the week and managed to catch some of the Jonas Mekas retrospective at Lincoln Center-- needless to say, really cool stuff.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:39pm Handy Haversack:

Yes, we all know your party line, "Baby Bot." New alias, same crap. Such wonderfully sourced sites you always link to, no matter which alias you decide to use so no one connects your behavior from one show to the next. It's charming. I am charmed. You're charming me. Let me subscribe to your newsletter.

Crap, I missed BPX? Stupd vacuuming.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:40pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

And, Bas NL - thank you, too!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:40pm The Count of Al Dente:

@Ken - Thanks. That's a good panel.
Avatar 4:40pm Fox:

The episode with Demi Moore and Jeffrey Tambor. And that was 1990.
Avatar 🎸 4:41pm Bas NL:

Congrats on a great album S&M&S! :)
  4:42pm Baby Bot:

Handy, you are too dense to see that I make myself known by introducing myself with using the full show name and always use "DJ" when addressing the hosts. Good Grief. I WANT people to know its me and using the same name is for creativity. Now, tell me more about your cats, I just can't get enough.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:42pm The Count of Al Dente:

@Handy - Thanks for that. I've never experienced these fools at WFMU before.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:43pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Thank you, Bas!!!
  4:44pm Will:

Just recently saw Bogdanovich's 1968 film TARGETS. Way ahead of its time, with a subplot involving Boris Karloff!
Avatar 4:45pm Fox:

You can see the Automat here at 10:28

www.youtube.com...

With Demi Moore talking to the chick who played the American Shewolf in London.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:45pm Handy Haversack:

I wish being dense were enough of a defense to block them out, Count. But it just doesn't work, it seems.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:45pm dale:

this is pretty wild! hey now fabs...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm David (in London):

I'm fed up with tripping over you American werewolves every time I go out to the bloody shops.

Avatar 4:47pm Fox:

  4:47pm Baby Bot:

Please stop trolling me Handy, you're embarrassing yourself.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:47pm Alvy Singer:

In 1963 Sandy Nelson was lucky to survive a motorcycle accident and his right foot had to be amputated. However, this didn’t stop him from resuming his career.
  4:47pm Brendan:

Can we quit the political bullshit?
  4:55pm Mark Ohe:

I approve of these most recent segues. Clearly the work of a master.
Avatar 🎸 4:55pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

There was a fantastic automat in DC when I was a kid (1970s) down in the underground shopping center at L'enfant Plaza.

how excellent was that: huge automat under the biggest collection of brutalist architecture in DC. Paradise on paradise.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:56pm Ike:

Seems like there have been multiple attempts to bring back the automats in NYC, but they never stick.
Avatar 4:59pm Fabio:

@ Mark Ohe: Hey Mark, been a while! how the heck are you?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:59pm The Count of Al Dente:

I remember being fascinated by the mysterious hands putting food into the slots.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 5:00pm Handy Haversack:

My dad seemed like he actually missed the NYC automats.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 5:00pm The Count of Al Dente:

This Richard Youngs, one of the Olympic figure skaters should have used this for their performance.
Avatar 🎸 5:01pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

thee Reverend Mother worked at USPS headquarters there at L'enfant Plaza, so the automat there was home turf during summer break from school. Those hands were mysterious indeed.
Avatar 5:05pm andywing:

Remember the automat scene at the beginning of Dark City?

  5:23pm Baby Bot:

Always surprised by your program DJ Fabio. You seem to have 50,000 shades of pale. Thanks man!
  5:23pm Mark Ohe:

All’s been well enough Fabio! Thanks for asking. Still living upstate in Delaware County. Endlessly renovating this brokendown house while fitting in graphic projects. Just finished a box set for Pavement’s Terror Twilight album. 5LPs and a substantial book, plus poster.

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 5:47pm Handy Haversack:

I hope the neighborly solidarity is staying heightened, TDK60. And as ever, if we can do anything to help, merely name it. Or hint about at it, and we'll guess!

My upstairs neighbors gave me two pączki for Fat Thursday, and I'm frankly terrified. That's a lot of doughnut.

  5:54pm Brendan:

Fabio I really enjoyed the show today. As I will next week or the week after when you and Clay got together. A different show all together! But it was nice today- a quiet peaceful vibe to go with the rain. Be well. Likewise to my fellow failures.

I got a little burnt out on "A Whiter Shade of Pale" because it was on the Big Chill soundtrack which my parents played on a cassette in our old Mazda over and over and over and over and over and over while I was a brat complaining in the back seat... but "A Salty Dog" is pretty great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm Stillwell Coney Islander:
