Accordion + Timpani -> winning combo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24am Webhamster Henry:

You should throw in a ringer track from the Harmonicats.
  9:25am rx scabin:

Who knew besides Joe McG that the accordion has such curative powers?
  9:25am P-90:

The only nonhuman primates I’ve seen play accordion have been chimpanzees, who turn the pages with their tongues as they play. Verrry prehensile, if you dig.
Avatar 9:26am Claire from Montclair:

Swing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...considering that every Rhythm is like an algorithm for Moving Thru Life - Rawk was received as an affront to Swing...
The chimpanzee arm architecture is in fact superior for Swinging...
  9:28am Cooh John:

Hello Joe. Celebrating the Federal holiday by listening to Surface Noise.
  9:28am Brendan:

What a swinging squeezebox set. i ‘m going to customize a car like one of those articulating buses and drive the first Honda Accordian. When I want to sound the horn, I’ll just speed up then pump the brakes.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 9:28am Ken From Hyde Park:

I find it hilarious that two Prima tracks are now frequent soundtracks of various TikToks. If Louis beamed in from the ether, how would one ever explain it to him?
  10:10am P-90:

Prims does get some love these days but is STILL CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED

Yeti Bob saddly too accurate
  10:19am P-90:

Prima and his band were like the Zappa and Mothers of Invention of their day. They mixed a lot of humor and crazed energy with their music, managing to “smuggle” a lot of brilliant music to audiences that otherwise might not have been so receptive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

It's a lotta schtick but yeah Musically they always brought it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25am Jason from Houston:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

In case you're wondering, Brassens is telling industry people who want him to air his dirty laundry in public in order to get more popular that they can blow it out their ears (or trumpets, as it were).

Joe, would you by any chance be wearing a beret?
  10:57am SRX:

Paris greetings !
  10:57am P-90:

Old friend of mine actually used to live in a house in Laurel Canyon with Spirit in the 60’s. Like every member of the band except the one guy who was married and lived nearby. Some fun stories, as one might imagine.
Avatar 10:58am Joe McG:

@SRX: Bon jour, Paris!

good song

Johnny Echols of Love's B-Day today. Has related he would just drop acid into bandmate Snoopy's cocacola when he felt he was getting too 'uptight'. Those were the days...
  11:01am P-90:

…back when being “too uptight”was a disaster to be avoided at all costs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01am G:

PG's first solo 45... About leaving Genesis and the rockstar world.
  11:02am P-90:

Yes, it’s a song about leaving a successful band to try a solo career
  11:02am Rick A:

Yeah, Model Shop is great though I wonder if young people today can identify with the male protagonist's angst. I guess his fear of going to Vietnam resonates. It's clearly the model--pun unintended--for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, given the oil refinery in both Brad Pitt's and Gary Lockwood's front yards.
  11:02am SRX:

Hi, how are you USA ?

It's a stretch--he wasn't solo--but Gabriel had cut a single two years earlier. He produced and performed, backing up Charlie Drake:

P-90 U remember the first Spirit song I heard. Was in mid 90's in a cafe during a high school field trip. I was very excited to hear it and made sure I asked the waitress what was the name of the band on the speakers. Hello DJ Surface Noise with Joe McGasko, nice sounds coming from the speakers right now too!
  11:22am Cassanndra Tolduso:

Wow all thumbs typing in my car (my (no U) Mid 70's field trip.
Avatar 11:23am Joe McG:

Hey Cassandra! Careful there in the car!
  11:24am Cassanndra Tolduso:

Thanks DJ JoeG. I have to drive two miles for signal (none at home) I listen on my laptop on the side of the road, using my phone for wifi hub. Never while driving.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 11:24am chris_in_space:

Wow, this Janis Joplin track makes me wonder how her sound would have adapted to the 1970s. Never heard her so contemporary.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am Handy Haversack:

Great set and show, Joe! Really enjoying it. Have to get out in the sun with the dog (and bring back cat food!). Many thanks!

Later on, Surfactants. Stay on top!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am PigeonsAndRust:

Whoa I had to pull over to check the playlist. This is fascinating
  11:25am Cassanndra Tolduso:

That Todd Rundgren did the engineering might have something to do with that sound.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Wouldn't have guessed Janis & Todd was a thing!
A fairly Nazz-like arrangement & all...
  11:28am Cassanndra Tolduso:

That sure surprised me too Rev Rabbit. Interesting to hear where he took Janis with his wizardry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Todd of course Produced the NY Dolls' debut. Not a total mutual admiration society there - but sure got the job done...
