Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm Gaylord Fields:

Avatar 6:10pm MOM WHIG:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm Gaylord Fields:

Mon Whig, I wore two layers of socks (and I didn't get them from the Sea of Holes).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm cometothesunshine:

Avatar 6:11pm WLSClark:

Al Kooper songs!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm marpay:

HI sw2442, Eli, WLS, DennisK, Aitch, Natalie, Gaylord, Johnyoung1234, bags, abbycadabby, Julie P!!!!!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:12pm Gaylord Fields:

Hiya, marpay!
  6:12pm Eli Miller:

Okay so my first question is I know in previous comments you have said that there would be enough material for there to be a super deluxe edition of the Monkees third album Headquarters. But is there enough material for a Super Deluxe edition of Pieces, Aquarius, Capricorn and Jones?
  6:13pm DennisK:

Thanks Andrew! I wondered which of Clyde's -uh, whoops, I meant SKIP'S, 45s you'd play!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm marpay:

Gaylord, you are a snow bunny!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm cometothesunshine:

Yes, enough for both. There is just no correct plan to issue either and that is all up to Rhino.
Avatar 6:13pm WLSClark:

MONTANAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar 6:13pm MOM WHIG:

hey there marpay
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm Gaylord Fields:

I appreciate that Skip Batten went for the psychedelic pspellyng on this record.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm cometothesunshine:

current, not correct Eli
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm marpay:

MOM, are you staying warm, it's BRR over here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm cometothesunshine:

What exactly where MPD Ltd doing in Cairo - that is my question
Avatar 6:15pm MOM WHIG:

marpay - it's a heat-wave today temp is 34 now - gusty winds - but no more snow or rain
Avatar 6:16pm WLSClark:

Andrew, does the Coconut Groove 45 of Cherry Slush sound more clear and clean than the USA 45? It just seems to to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm marpay:

LOL you're havin' a 34° heatwave!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm cometothesunshine:

I only have the USA pressing, Clark
Avatar 6:17pm WLSClark:

Symbols sound so close to trems!!! LOVE IT! Phasing as well!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm Gaylord Fields:

@marpay: I was the only person my age romping on the snow tubing slopes who didn't bring any children, er, I mean grandchildren.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm cometothesunshine:

Yes, Gaylord - but did you bring a turntable?
Avatar 6:17pm WLSClark:

Andrew, same here, but got the CG version on a CDR from a friend and thought it sounded better.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm marpay:

you are holding on to your youth, Gaylord!♥
Avatar 6:18pm MOM WHIG:

Gaylord - I bet it was SUPER FUN! Good thing you got to have a whirlpool after that.
Avatar 6:18pm MOM WHIG:

marpay - it was 17 Sunday here. How's it there?
Avatar 6:18pm WLSClark:

Gaylord, is your storm over? How many inches? We had measley 1.4" from same storm 2 days ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18pm cometothesunshine:

Double bubble? Love Workshop?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm cometothesunshine:

Making potions and playing fuzz guitar - great combo
  6:19pm Eli Miller:

Thats alright Andrew! My second question is, is there a plan to officially release Mike Nesmith's earlier work as a musician? For example, stuff he did with the Mike and John and Bill band or the Mike and Tony band?
Avatar 6:19pm Natalie:

It's always good to workshop a concept.
  6:20pm uptown jen:

Multitasking right now, so just popping in quickly to say hello to everyone and to say thanks for another great show, Andrew!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm cometothesunshine:

Eli - that would be up to his estate and I think they are busy with mourning their dad, so I would give it some time/space
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm cometothesunshine:

Jack Bedient, who knew?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm marpay:

HI uptown jen!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm Gaylord Fields:

@Mom Whig: I wouldn't do something like that every day, but I will keep doing fun outdoor activities until I can't.

@WLSClark: The rain washed all the snow away overnight where I live, but an hour's drive into the mountains provided all the snow and one inner tube I needed.
Avatar 6:21pm WLSClark:

RUMBLES!!! Omaha rock!!!
  6:21pm Eli Miller:

Understandable. We lost a real legend when he passed away :(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm cometothesunshine:

Rumbles are less picky
Avatar 6:22pm johnyoung1234:

@Eli Miller - One of the things on my wish list is a follow-up to 'Dolenz Sings Nesmith' titled 'Everyone Sings Nesmith' with various artists covering Nez songs. All his musical fans--i.e. Susanna Hoffs, Andy Partridge, Peter Buck, etc.
Avatar 6:22pm Erica:

I feel the same way Eli. Losing Mike Nesmith made me cry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm cometothesunshine:

Some beautiful chord changes in the bridge of this one.
Avatar 6:22pm WLSClark:

The top 60's band in Nebraska 63-70. Regrouped and maybe still going today some!
Avatar 6:23pm Erica:

Which reminds me, I tuned in to this show to connect with Andrew Sandoval, since he's a "Monkees" guy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm Gaylord Fields:

Andrew, I never doubt the versatility of Jack Bedient and his helium-filled lungs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm cometothesunshine:

Gaylord - he has albums, which I have never heard.
Avatar 6:23pm johnyoung1234:

@Erica - Andrew isn't 'a Monkees guy' he's 'THE Monkees Guy'!
Avatar 6:24pm WLSClark:

These Shillings same as 66 Detroit band?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm cometothesunshine:

I believe this is their final 45, WLS
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm Gaylord Fields:

Andrew, those Jack Bedient albums are mostly MOR, clearly his audition for Vegas.
Avatar 6:25pm Erica:

@johnny HA! (In Edna Krabappel's voice).
  6:25pm Dakota:

Is Wild Cherry Lane near Cherry Hill Park?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm cometothesunshine:

Gaylord - I don't think he auditioned, from what I read that was the only place he worked. He does have one with a version of Love Workshop (which I would like to hear).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm cometothesunshine:

Norman Smith & Mike Vickers strike again!
Avatar 6:26pm MOM WHIG:

Hi Dakota
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm cometothesunshine:

Shirley & Johnny are definitely Righteous on this disc.
Avatar 6:27pm Erica:

The same Mike Vickers from Manfred Mann and KPM music?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm cometothesunshine:

Same one, Erica
Avatar 6:27pm Natalie:

I guess Shirley and Johnny didn't care for what the Love Workshop came up with. Back to the drawing board, Jack!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28pm cometothesunshine:

A very talented writer/arranger
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28pm marpay:

Hi Dakota!!
  6:28pm Dakota:

  6:33pm Richard Whig:

roosters 45 is a long tyme whig fave!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm cometothesunshine:

Thanks, Mom - that's what I keep telling myself. A good double-sider.
  6:33pm abbycadabby:

which came first - the byrds or the roosters?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm cometothesunshine:

The Byrds, abby
Avatar 6:34pm MOM WHIG:

Hi to Sir W
Avatar 6:34pm WLSClark:

I think this is the BEST 45 by them!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm marpay:

HI Richard!!
  6:34pm Eli Miller:

Speaking of the Byrds do you know if they have any more unreleased material, Andrew?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm cometothesunshine:

This is a great one too - found on tour late last year.
  6:34pm abbycadabby:

thanks, andrew. they sound good! can always use soundalike byrds .
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm marpay:

Taking you all with me, i have a job to finish♥♥♥
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm cometothesunshine:

Eli - you should ask Bob Irwin - he hosts a show that plays lotsa great stuff on the Give The Drummer stream - it is on in a couple o hours.
  6:36pm abbycadabby:

Cowsill fans - the C's should cover Gimme One Good Reason!
Avatar 6:36pm MOM WHIG:

marpay - see you later then
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm cometothesunshine:

I didn't have time to type or say the full title of this single!
  6:37pm Eli Miller:

Wonderful to hear!
  6:37pm marpay:

Mom yes😍
  6:37pm waved:

the flip of this Oshum track is great too! Rattle of Life? Great show!
Avatar 6:37pm WLSClark:

THAT's the title!!!??? WOW! Longer than Ray Stevens or Nino and April 45 titles!
  6:37pm Dakota:

The Travels And Deliveries Of An Early Morning Milkman And One Lonely Hitchhiker, Log II, Section 5, Page 29, Wagon No. 23, Route 10!! Wow what a title.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm cometothesunshine:

Thanks, waved! I might flip it in the future.
  6:38pm waved:

*Oshun
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm cometothesunshine:

Thank you, Dakota - you saved my sore hand!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39pm cometothesunshine:

Clock-Work Orange going for Baroque
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm Aitch:

There I was, dressed in the height of Roman fashion...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm cometothesunshine:

It always works out that way, Aitch
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm cometothesunshine:

I just found this Third Degree 45 on Friday, proving there are still many singles I have yet to collect.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm cometothesunshine:

waved - I think some Oshun acetates turned up with unissued songs - they were sold on Ebay, but may surface on YouTube at some point.
Avatar 6:43pm johnyoung1234:

@Andrew - the 45s always sound so good here. Just curious...do you use an ultrasonic cleaner on them? If so, which one? Sorry for the geek question but I'm looking for an ultrasonic cleaner and have no idea which one to get!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm cometothesunshine:

Good question, Johnyoung - I have a VPI cleaner, but the Izotope declicking is what does the hard work on these 45s. It makes everything much more listenable.
  6:44pm waved:

thanks for the info cometothesunshine! i would love to hear more/
Avatar 6:44pm mce1965:

Finally here! Can't wait to catch up
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm cometothesunshine:

You missed some good ones, MCE!
Avatar 6:45pm mce1965:

The beauty of this show - I can always roll it on back later
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm cometothesunshine:

The entire series is about rolling back, as it were.
Avatar 6:46pm MOM WHIG:

glad you made it here mce1965
Avatar 6:46pm mce1965:

True dat
  6:47pm Eli Miller:

So, Andrew I don't know if you know this or not. But back in 1969 Peter Tork had a band with his then girlfriend Reine Stewart called the Peter Tork And/Or Release and he said that they have recorded a couple of demos together back in the day. So, my question is do they still exist, and if so will they ever come out someday?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm cometothesunshine:

Eli - he had an acetate of at least one song. Not sure where it is now. Again, it will be up to his family.
Avatar 6:49pm WLSClark:

"A Longhair production" Gotta love it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm cometothesunshine:

This record has an amazing feeling to it - never too heavy, which makes me appreciate it even more.
  6:50pm Dakota:

Kangaroo! I remember seeing their album at a record shop always wondering if I should buy it. This single makes it very tempting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm cometothesunshine:

WLSClark - same producers as Blues Magoos.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm cometothesunshine:

Dakota - I read a comment on YouTube that said this single had the two best tracks!
Avatar 6:51pm WLSClark:

Cool!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm cometothesunshine:

Love these 1967 UK psych singles - wish they weren't all one million pounds.
  6:53pm Dakota:

Well, I at least know I’m gonna be looking for that single.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm cometothesunshine:

And now some Memphis-styled Pysch

loving these tunes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm cometothesunshine:

Thanks, waved!
Avatar 6:57pm mce1965:

Philips/Smash etc. sure loved the pic sleeves - just not spending any money on making ones that were made of quality paper
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57pm cometothesunshine:

I found this single by the Guild in Kansas City, MO
Avatar 6:58pm WLSClark:

WOW, NEVER saw this PS and I LIVE near KC!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm cometothesunshine:

Mouse in non-Dylan shocker
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:59pm cometothesunshine:

This is as good as any Five Americans 45 from the same producer.
  6:59pm Dakota:

I guess this what happens when you have a mouse without the traps.
  6:59pm Eli Miller:

Hey Andrew, just out of curiosity have you ever been to a good record store in Indiana before?
Avatar 7:00pm mce1965:

Yeah, this is surprisingly good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00pm cometothesunshine:

Indeed, Dakota
Avatar 7:00pm WLSClark:

Mouse without the Traps!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00pm cometothesunshine:

Eli - I have definitely been through Indianapolis a few times, but can't recall names.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:02pm cometothesunshine:

Herb Bernstein arranged a lot of the Cowsills recordings.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:02pm cometothesunshine:

Here we go with the Cowsills!
Avatar 7:03pm WLSClark:

This was an absolutely great 45! New Years 67!!!! What a great time for music!
Avatar 7:03pm WLSClark:

oOPS, 1968 New Years
  7:03pm abbycadabby:

the song that sent me out to buy my first LP. ♥
Avatar 7:04pm Erica:

I got my MILK ready for this hour.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04pm cometothesunshine:

What a hopeful and wonderful composition - surprised it didn't soar higher.
  7:04pm waved:

a fried of mine got me an autographed pic of the Cowsills for my birthday last year! i love the freakin cowsills!
  7:06pm abbycadabby:

i wish their recording sessions had been filmed. pure magic in those voices.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06pm cometothesunshine:

They are great live
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06pm Gaylord Fields:

When people ask me (and they often do) what was the greatest musical concert I ever attended, I alway cite seeing the Cowsills at Maxwell's in Hoboken ca. 1990 among them, if not thee greatest.
  7:06pm waved:

the documentary was really good too!
  7:06pm Tony:

Playing the first two songs from the We Can Fly LP.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06pm Gaylord Fields:

@Andrew: Ha, I wrote the above before I read what you wrote.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07pm cometothesunshine:

We think alike, Gaylord
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07pm cometothesunshine:

We should form a group!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08pm Gaylord Fields:

There's a reason we're such friends! And the best way to remain friends may be to never form a group, alas.
  7:08pm Dakota:

A group! Can I join? I can play the drums!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08pm cometothesunshine:

Erica - good planning on your part
  7:09pm Tony:

One of my favorite Cowsills songs- Mister Flynn
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm Gaylord Fields:

You're in, Dakota — we can call the band the Dakota Territory and wear a lot of fringed buckskin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm cometothesunshine:

Gaylord, hopefully our group never encounters Mr. Flynn (or Captain Sad for that matter).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10pm Gaylord Fields:

They certainly did sing a lot about a bunch of po-faced characters.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10pm cometothesunshine:

Now Captain Sensible, he would be okay.
  7:11pm abbycadabby:

i still don't have the credits i'd like to see for these records. i want to know everything. nyc studio musicians, but who? and were the vocals arranged on the spot or did they go home and practice them? that said, i am still able to enjoy them without knowing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:11pm Gaylord Fields:

As long as he leaves Rat Scabies behind, otherwise we're back to where we started.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:11pm cometothesunshine:

abby - sadly NYC session credits are much harder to come by than LA from this era.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12pm cometothesunshine:

Gaylord, Well I'll be Damnned
  7:12pm Dakota:

That sounds amazing! We could record one great single on Columbia and never be heard from again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12pm izzy:

Susan must have been taking the photo for that "Mr. Flynn" Pic sleeve.
  7:13pm Vicky:

Andrew, ask Bob or John. They have lots of stories.
  7:13pm abbycadabby:

yes, i should be grateful that they were in the studio just putting it down. for us. for ever.
Avatar 7:13pm Natalie:

I was just sharing some treasures of Captain Sensible with a co-worker. Christmas Catalogue is my only holiday tradition to date
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm Gaylord Fields:

@Dakota: What will happen is that our producer Jerry Fuller will try to separate you from the rest of us and there goes your solo career ever skyward, while we're replaced by the likes of Vinnie Bell and Gary Chester.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm cometothesunshine:

Bob, John, Paul and Susan have always been friendly - grateful for their music - and the late Bill and Barry too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm cometothesunshine:

Natalie - my favorite Capt cut is There's More Snakes Than Ladders
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm Gaylord Fields:

So true, Andrew. They are some of the most preposterously approachable people I've ever met.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm Gaylord Fields:

Captain Sensible and His Ship of the Damned
  7:16pm Eli Miller:

So, Andrew now that your done with the Bonzo's reissue boxset (which I still can't wait till it comes out!) what's next for you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm cometothesunshine:

One of the best live shows I ever saw was Bill Cowsill's Blue Shadows in Austin Tx supporting their first album.
  7:16pm Tony:

Just like with The Easybeats music, you and I have similar tastes if Mister Flynn is one of your favorites as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17pm cometothesunshine:

Eli - I have a lot of clean up work on various projects and I have a new book I will be announcing later in the year. I am the editor of it, not the author.
  7:17pm Tony:

The Blue Shadows first LP is awesome- will we hear Deliver Me today in its entirety?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17pm Gaylord Fields:

Even though Barbara's presence is 100% a result of label meddling, it does add to the blend.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17pm cometothesunshine:

For sure, Tony - you should join our group!
  7:18pm Tony:

I'd be the Stu Sutcliffe of the group- good music sensibilities and zero musical ability.
  7:19pm Vicky:

Did anyone ever hear this one (Beautiful Beige) on an Ikea commercial?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm Gaylord Fields:

@Tony: We have a name (The Dakota Territory), a look (fringe/buckskin), a producer (Jerry Fuller), and our first single will come out on Date, as CBS is still a bit tentative about mixed-race pop groups.
Avatar 7:19pm Natalie:

I play a mean tambourine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm cometothesunshine:

Sounds perfect - we're about to break up unless we get a hit
Avatar 7:19pm mce1965:

The best Philips single for sure
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm Gaylord Fields:

@Natalie: Two tambourine players will be our gimmick.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm cometothesunshine:

They definitely had everything going on in their earliest days, MCE - it was almost a Koppelman/Rubinesque transformation with Rain The Park
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm Gaylord Fields:

@Tony: We can always use a future legend in the band.
Avatar 7:21pm Natalie:

Gaylord, I'd be concerned that two wouldn't be enough
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22pm cometothesunshine:

Gaylord - just wait for our album of covers after our self-produced originals fail.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm Gaylord Fields:

"The Dakota Territory Perform Spinning Wheel, Michelle, and Other Top Hits"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:24pm cometothesunshine:

Little Green Apples (Jerry Fuller)
Avatar 7:24pm WLSClark:

RIVER BLUE--played this to death!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:24pm Gaylord Fields:

It'll be 50% Fuller filler, of course.
  7:24pm abbycadabby:

Bill & Bob as Paul & John.
  7:25pm Dakota:

And we’ll use the same backing track as O. C. Smith’s version.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26pm cometothesunshine:

Dakota has this figured out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26pm Gaylord Fields:

@Dakota: Music industry savvy like that is why you're fronting the band!
  7:28pm abbycadabby:

nice! not one you hear - ever!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm cometothesunshine:

Shelby Singleton bringing it on for this 45
  7:29pm Richard Whig:

I'm gonna form a copy cat band called Thee Bozemen
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm cometothesunshine:

Foiled again by Whig
Avatar 7:29pm mce1965:

He was good at producing unsuccessful material for many Philips acts (Dusty, etc.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:30pm Gaylord Fields:

@Richard Whig: I look forward to your 45 on Hit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:30pm cometothesunshine:

Gaylord - HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
  7:31pm Richard Whig:

nonsense. we will.feed.off.each others success and share backing tracks!
  7:31pm Tony:

I told The Cowsills Facebook page I am on that Andrew plays music that even devoted fans of groups have either not heard or are rarities.
  7:31pm Richard Whig:

LOL
Avatar 7:31pm Erica:

That Indian Lake cover wouldn't fly today. But it's a great record.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm cometothesunshine:

My side project will be called Andrew & the Rack Jobbers
  7:32pm Vicky:

@Erica the song wouldn't fly today.
Avatar 7:32pm mce1965:

Well I'm stepping away from the chat but will continue listening - thanks for another fine show as always Andrew
Avatar 7:32pm Erica:

@vicky lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm cometothesunshine:

Thanks, Tony! A few rarities still to come. I did DJ the LA screening of Family Band with the Cowsills in person. Even they were shocked when I broke out my Joda 45.
Avatar 7:33pm WLSClark:

What a GREAT record to put them back on top in 68.
  7:33pm Javi from Argentina:

The cowsills were amazing. Does anybody know how come Cherry Red or Now Sounds did not put out a clamshell box with all their recordings from the first album to On Our Side?
  7:33pm DennisK:

Indian Lake (in Denville NJ) was a local hang of some renown, so the 45 would ALWAYS fly in that community!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm Gaylord Fields:

@Vicky @Erica: I agree — people would look at that sleeve and ask "What the hell is a newspaper?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm cometothesunshine:

Maybe they will, Javi - they love putting out multidisc sets.
Avatar 7:34pm WLSClark:

The word "Happy" appears in many songs by them. THAT makes me happy. A young friend once thought "Poor Baby" was titled "Happy."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35pm cometothesunshine:

I gotta say for 60 cents this Collector's Record is one of their finest moments.
  7:35pm Javi from Argentina:

I hope so, Andrew. At least before we all kick the bucket. I would love a box of Cowsills exactly like the recent Beau Brummels one.
  7:35pm Vicky:

@Gaylord LOL! Newspaper Blanket is a great song. Theme wise it reminds me of one of the songs (Lend a Hand) coming out on their new album.
  7:36pm Vicky:

@wlsclark "Poor Baby" is one of my favorites.
Avatar 7:37pm Erica:

And now we've entered the 70s.
  7:37pm abbycadabby:

Would have loved to have heard On My Side at one of their LA club gigs back in the day. I'm guessing they would have played it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37pm cometothesunshine:

Erica - momentarily
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37pm Gaylord Fields:

All kidding aside, Vicky, I agree with you on the greatness of Newspaper Blanket.
  7:38pm Vicky:

I always liked the On My Side album and still wonder to this day where the cover picture was taken.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm cometothesunshine:

Thank you, Johnny Nash for signing the Cowsills!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm Gaylord Fields:

He can hear clearly now.
  7:38pm abbycadabby:

They haven't told you, Vicky?
  7:39pm Tony:

This song would not be out of place on Its 2 Easy.
  7:40pm Vicky:

From what I've heard @abbycadabby is that they don't exactly remember
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm cometothesunshine:

It is a great one, Tony!
Avatar 7:41pm Erica:

Get your MILK ready!
  7:41pm abbycadabby:

Thanks @Vicky.
Avatar 7:41pm WLSClark:

I wonder how many of these they made. I have one and imagine MOST Cowsills fans do as well?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm cometothesunshine:

And your electric sitars!
Avatar 7:41pm sw2442:

I love this milk commercial...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm izzy:

Perfect spot for a spoken word interlude over the electric sitar solo!
  7:42pm Dakota:

So question,
I have an budget album of some of the Cowsills recording which has all of their Phillips 45 tracks plus two others called Hold on Tight and I Know, Know, Know, I'll Never Love, Love, Love. We’re these gonna be singles but never got released or just some left over tracks? Also the final two songs are from a group called The Lincoln Park Zoo. Does this group have any relation to group or were they put on there for filler?
  7:42pm abbycadabby:

the right group, the right sound. so perfect.
  7:43pm DennisK:

Harry Harrison, the Morning Mayor!!!!
Avatar 7:44pm Beantown Doug:

Harry Harrison, the DJ who took over the morning drive shift at WABC in NYC, September '68, when the original Morning Mayor, Herb Oscar Anderson, quit.
Avatar 7:44pm WLSClark:

I love those In Sound albums and "Hit Heard Round the World" too. Nice interviews and such.
  7:44pm Richard Whig:

RELENTLESS!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm cometothesunshine:

Dakota - yes those are outtakes - but there wasn't enough for a cash-in album, so they stuck some unrelated tracks with them to pad out the LP (when the Rain, The Park became a hit).
Avatar 7:44pm MOM WHIG:

This is their BEST for me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm Eric R:

music to write checks to the IRS to.
  7:44pm abbycadabby:

Harry Harrison. that was cool!
  7:44pm DennisK:

This is A PERFECT POP RECORD. PERIOD.
  7:44pm Vicky:

@Dakota Phillips dropped them without releasing those other songs and when they started having hits, Phillips paired them with another group on the label and put out the record.
Avatar 7:45pm MOM WHIG:

Hey there Eric
Avatar 7:45pm johnyoung1234:

@Andrew - I seem to have 2 different stereo mixes of "The Rain, The Park..." Do you know where these came from and why there are 2 different mixes?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm cometothesunshine:

I don't know, John - this is the mono mix, which I love.
Avatar 7:46pm WLSClark:

This song just blew me away. Anyone who compares the Partridges to the Cowsills is looney.
  7:46pm DennisK:

Yeah, I heard that "other" mix for the first time the other day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46pm Gaylord Fields:

"Rain, Park, etc." scares me in its beauty.
Avatar 7:46pm johnyoung1234:

I think the bass is more prominent in one of them. Crazy!
Avatar 7:46pm Erica:

@WLSClark The Partridge Family were inspired by the Cowsills.
Avatar 7:46pm WLSClark:

Yes, and Hair has one with wind blowing thru the mix and one without.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46pm cometothesunshine:

Best song Artie Kornfeld ever wrote!
  7:47pm jimmytallow:

Doesn’t get much better than that one…
Avatar 7:47pm WLSClark:

Yes Erica, but totally different stories. AND MUSIC!
Avatar 7:47pm Erica:

Except by the time the Partridge Family premiered when bubblegum pop was changing in the early 70s.
  7:47pm abbycadabby:

omg. barry at 13!
Avatar 7:48pm WLSClark:

Hoping we hear "Poor Baby" and "IIxII"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm cometothesunshine:

My new group will be called the Toytown Trumpets
  7:49pm DennisK:

Howdja like to get your hands on the multitrack for "The Rain, The Park...", eh? Yow!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm cometothesunshine:

Snuff Garrett has ideal for me with Viva
Avatar 7:49pm MOM WHIG:

Andrew - WOW what a powerful show today - Many Thanks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm Gaylord Fields:

Andrew, my new song "Coffee-Flavoured Toffee Shoppe" would be a natural for your new group!
  7:50pm abbycadabby:

Some songs call for Toytown Trumpets! Pennies is one of my favorites. It's really nice to have someone playing these songs for me. What a luxury to hear a Cowsill songs list by someone else.
  7:50pm Tony:

One of those songs Bob mentioned that he, Bill, and Artie wrote for the LP.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm cometothesunshine:

Gaylord, we'll do it if you we can split the publishing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm cometothesunshine:

Thanks, Mom Whig! - still a few more good ones to come.
  7:51pm DennisK:

Gaylord & Andrew, got room for ANOTHER tambourine player on that one??
Avatar 7:51pm MOM WHIG:

I'm still listening
  7:51pm DennisK:

I've been practicing!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm izzy:

Sound like you need sleigh bells to me! I know a guy...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm cometothesunshine:

If you want to hear even more Cowsills - Orange Peel has another hour lined up directly following this show on this stream!
Avatar 7:53pm johnyoung1234:

@Gaylord Fields - Be careful not to run afoul of the Hollies and their "Ye Olde Toffee Shoppe" track
Avatar 7:53pm WLSClark:

Mr. Peel always has your back.
Avatar 7:53pm WLSClark:

Great tunes for sure, Andrew!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm Gaylord Fields:

@johnyoung1234: Oh, my song is a direct lift of the Hollies song, just with some of the chords switched around.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm cometothesunshine:

Clark - Orange Peel is a pain, but I love him - hard not to.
  7:54pm DennisK:

Always, WLSClark - just keep the Scotch & Cokes coming!
Avatar 7:54pm johnyoung1234:

I'm going to have withdrawals if I don't hear "Love American Style" before the night is over...
Avatar 7:54pm Erica:

Hey Andrew, how come Mr. Peel works for you?
I mean how did you guys meet?
Avatar 7:54pm WLSClark:

Johnny, agreed!!!
  7:54pm Chattanooga Willy:

I saw the Cowsills a few years ago at Abby Road on the River festival in Jeffersonville IIN. They are still great entertainers and gracious during the meet and greet after the show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm Gaylord Fields:

@DennisK: Toytown without toy instruments ain't toytown! Hop aboard!
  7:55pm DennisK:

I'm there, Gaylord!!!
  7:55pm abbycadabby:

Andrew has a perfect song list going here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm Eric R:

ok...now I can relax. Checks written, placed in envelopes...sigh, all that beautiful money. At least I'm happy that the government will use the cash to build an alternate Rock n Roll Hall of Fame which includes Johnny Burnette.
  7:55pm Tony:

Is this from the San Remo Festival?
  7:56pm Tony:

(Or just an Italian release with a story behind it?)
Avatar 7:56pm MOM WHIG:

Eric - really?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56pm Eric R:

Mom, my daydream
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57pm cometothesunshine:

Erica - the story is I was interviewing someone about radio in Riverside, CA and he was introduced to me - he used to be on KMEN in the early 1960's. He came to town and never left. He was in retirement because he felt he would never be popular in radio after John Ravenscroft stole his name. He lived off his wife till she passed and was bored. I gave him a break with the show before and after mine, but he is always complaining.
  7:57pm abbycadabby:

I'm guessing Italian was not a stretch for Catholic school kids?
  7:57pm Richard Whig:

thank you Andrew. this show was RELENTLESS!! 🙃
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57pm cometothesunshine:

Cowsills covering the Rokes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm cometothesunshine:

Richard Whig - plenty of mid-60s screaming
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm cometothesunshine:

Tony, Italian only 45.
  7:59pm Dakota:

Well guys, I had fun. Good session tonight. We made some great recordings that will be released three years from now on Flying Dutchman Records. See you guys then.
  7:59pm Tony:

Even Paul Revere and the Raiders released an Italian-only 45.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59pm cometothesunshine:

There is an English language version by the Rokes - The Words Of Bartholomew.
Avatar 7:59pm WLSClark:

YEAH!!!!
  7:59pm DennisK:

Brilliant show, Andrew! Cheers!
  7:59pm Eli Miller:

Thank you for another great show, Andrew!
Avatar 7:59pm Erica:

It was a fun show.
  7:59pm Tony:

Thanks, Andrew. Again, you did a wonderful job.
Avatar 7:59pm sw2442:

Thanks Andrew...wonderful show...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59pm cometothesunshine:

No love for Poor Baby for the Rock'N Soul Bunny.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59pm marpay:

The Rutles!
  7:59pm Tony:

Now, the RUTLES???
  8:00pm abbycadabby:

Thank you, Andrew! A wonderful show!
Avatar 8:00pm Natalie:

Lovely show, per usual! A fine soundtrack to making soup on a chilly day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm cometothesunshine:

Thanks to all of you - have a beautiful night and week. Take care - be safe.
Avatar 8:00pm Erica:

I will try to remember to tune in next week and catch up on some other shows as well.
Avatar 8:00pm WLSClark:

Avatar 8:00pm Natalie:

Have a lovely evening, all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm Gaylord Fields:

Poor "Poor Baby"!
  8:02pm abbycadabby:

Jeffrey Hatcher and Billy Cowsill singing together. I could cry. What a loss!
  8:02pm Vicky:

Still listening ... and how great to hear Billy & the Blue Shadows; I know I should probably be on the other show. :)
Avatar 8:03pm cometothesunshine:

Orange Peel does have good taste.
