Hello there Irony! WR/Jan/Rich!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm Mr Fab:

Hey Ironybread! Bill and Ted would approve of this most gnarly music.
Avatar 1:04pm ironybread:

Hi Jan! Hi Rich! Hi Derek! Hi Fab!

Hi Zip!

That comic made me laugh. Shows how out of touch I am
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Mr Fab:

Yeah I laffed!

Hi Fred!

Hi ironybread and puzzlers!
Avatar 1:13pm ironybread:

Hi chresti!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Ike:

More labyrinths forever!
Avatar 1:17pm ironybread:

Hi Ike!
Avatar 1:20pm ironybread:

now let's see if this poker-faced classic can stand up to the ironic assault of the track that preceded it
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:25pm Ike:

Rush is OK. The only Canadian rush that I *love* is when I rush to get some poutine!
Avatar 1:26pm ironybread:

Oh right, this has movements, doesn't it? Forgot to put them in the playlist. You've got your "In the Valley", then "Didacts and Narpets", followed by "No One at the Bridge", "Panacea", "Bacchus Plateau", and finally "The Fountain".
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:26pm fred:

There was a story about minotaurs in conjunctions a couple of years ago. In related news, Kurt Gottschalk might have a show on the fifth Wednesday of months that have one on WGXC
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Zipperhead7:

Actually, Rush's CD of covers wasn't half bad. Their version of Summertime Blues mashed up Blue Cheer and the Who. Geddy also laid off the helium. But it's the only Rush I could ever tolerate.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:29pm Zipperhead7:

From Wikipedia: "Didacts and Narpets" possibly an anagram for "Addicts and Parents."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm Franco Twinkie:

Hark! Wizards and dragons on thy Sabbath!
Avatar 1:30pm ironybread:

Hi Franco! We got necromancers at 10 o'clock!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Zipperhead7:

I have donned the helmet, steel breastplate and codpiece and now reach for my scimitar
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:35pm fred:

Is that was Rush is about? I expected worse, from what I had heard about them. I don't see how one could care enough to hate them (then again, I had never heard them before now, I can see how I'd have a different take if I had been forced to hear that for years)
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:35pm chresti:

Hi fred, my son just called me from Ivry-sur-Seine, he and his dog are there.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:36pm chresti:

And, yay Kurt Gottschalk
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:36pm fred:

@chresti: my first summer job was in a factory (long gone) in this town

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:39pm chresti:

I told him if he sees a guy with a wfmu shirt, offer him a Guinness
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:42pm Rich in Washington:

I was stupid as a teenager and resisted liking Rush because my best friend at the time - so close to have this dumb sibling like frenemy type relationship where music was concerned - wouldn't shut up about Rush.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm coelacanth∅:

greetings Taylor and puzzle people
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm coelacanth∅:

i was stupid as a teenager but for completely different reasons
Avatar 1:47pm ironybread:

Hi coel!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:48pm chresti:

I was saved by older people that played Captain Beefheart, when I was 15. Before that I was monumentally stupid.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:48pm fred:

@chresti: how nice of you! I might be outside more next week as the ban on live shows should be lifted, but more in Montreuil than Paris
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:52pm chresti:

@fred, not sure how long he'll be there, he thinks he wants to stay, he bought a one-way ticket.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm Franco Twinkie:

Ah, a relaxing interlude before the tsunami crushes us.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:54pm fred:

@chresti: If I do meet him and I refer to you as "chresti", would it make sense to him?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm Franco Twinkie:

I'm still stupid after all these years.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:56pm Zipperhead7:

According to Discogs this was recorded the same year as Agharta/Pangea with many of the same players.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:58pm fred:

@chresti: if he's there for a while, he should check this out: www.sonicprotest.com
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm coelacanth∅:

i was well-influenced by older people i lucked into. one, my older brother, tried to give me good xmas gifts, sometimes something he thought i should get into, sometimes what he thought i *was* into. so he gave me rush's "hemispheres", figuring i like prog and somehow rush slipped by me. it's true rush had slipped by me. never heard of it. so i put the record on. and again, and again and again...nope. not only did nothing for me but grated on me increasingly!
i've given rush many chances since then and ultimately like one track. "2112", a 20-minute piece.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:59pm chresti:

@fred: maybe? I told him you went by "fred", "chresti" sounds enough like my name ("christi")
Happy the ban is over on live shows!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm coelacanth∅:

Zipperhead - the Reggie Lucas?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:02pm chresti:

Thanks fred, I sent him the link
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Zipperhead7:

Yeah -- a key part of Miles' Funk Collective going back to "On the Corner"
  2:08pm hendrix wolfbat:

Wild sets, 1st time I've heard your show... This is on something, :-)
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:08pm fred:

@chresti: though I'll miss some of the shows I most want to catch... dance comes first. Having booked over 50 shows, some collisions had to happen
Avatar 2:09pm ironybread:

Hi hendrix! Welcome!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm hendrix wolfbat:

Ooh now it is really getting strafe
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm hendrix wolfbat:

Haha strange
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:17pm fred:

@chresti: my fave venue: www.instantschavires.com
and a tremendous resource: agendainforme.htg0.com
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Rich in Washington:

It's funny. I've been a huge fan of Amirkhanian's radio shows and writing over the years but am almost entirely unfamiliar with his own art.
Avatar 2:24pm ironybread:

#Quack
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm coelacanth∅:

Thanks Zipperhead. no wonder then that i dug that Lucas -agharta and pangaea are 2 of my favorite Miles albums

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:42pm chresti:

Electroacoustic plop music is a favorite.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:47pm Zipperhead7:

London, Paris, Berlin ,Munich . . . everyone talkin' about plop music!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:48pm Ike:

LOL!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:50pm Rich in Washington:

Oh wow. I had no idea there was any linkage between Morris and Cook and now it all makes sense.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:50pm Ike:

All hail my fascinating research. Today I have discovered that a big tub of plain Chobani yogurt is nowhere near as tasty as a big tub of plain Cabot yogurt.
Avatar 2:51pm ironybread:

oh Rich this whole album is a killer, it's the best
Avatar 2:51pm ironybread:

duly noted Ike
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:53pm Ike:

Depends on your location probably. Isn't yogurt regional? I don't know if you can even get Cabot outside of the northeast.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:54pm Ike:

Extra LOL @ the Oprah digression
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Rich in Washington:

damn, this is hilarious!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Ike:

"Dogs" and "bishops" ROTFLLLLLL
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:58pm Rich in Washington:

Oh wow! I haven't heard this in ages. My boys were all huge Strong Bad fans.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:59pm WR:

Thank you!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:59pm Derek Westerholm:

That was quite the song to bring us to the end!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:59pm Zipperhead7:

Another terrific show, Ironybread! Zip approves, for what that's worth. You and Rich are The Men!!
Avatar 2:59pm ironybread:

Thanks for listening all, and #Burnination to us all!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:59pm chresti:

Thanks ironybread!
