There were a lot of songs The Monkees did that were first done by L.A. Garage bands. Sons of Adam (and The Astronauts from Colorado) did "Tomorrow's Gonna Be Another Day" for example, and then The Rising Sons did "Take a Giant Step." I have a paragraph about that in the "Riot" book.
  8:06pm
Richard Whig:

hello woo!
  8:07pm
Richard Whig:

Dom, that would be. a great set!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:08pm

everyone should have a copy of Dom's book. Fantastic info. Great history. In fact it should be taught in schools!
  8:09pm
Domenico:

Yeah, I've been wanting to do "that" set... well... "now is the time for Hearts and Flowers and Golden Hours beneath the sun"... (Mike mentions the band Hearts & Flowers on one of the episodes... Capitol, early '67)

"Rock 'n' Roll Gypsies" by Hearts & Flowers was an actual Sunset Strip anthem moments after the Sunset Strip riots, heard that from people who were there.

A Little travelogue aboutSlapneck, Michigan in 1943? The most static-y fuzz coming out of the solo. Such a great record… even given the strange subject matter.

Depends on the knob style. I changed them all in our house, took me minute to change these but the heavy fancy ones I removed must have taken a half our to put in for each one.

I think all Scandinavians know how to do musically is rip off old American rock styles.
  8:25pm
Richard Whig:

hey Sunny, welcome....isn't that what we are all doing?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:25pm
Eric R:

that's not true, Sunny. ABBA, for example, also rips off Scottish bagpipe stylings.
  8:26pm
Sunny:

We invented all of it

Hi there Sunny
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:26pm
Eric R:

Thank you, Les Terribles, for having a title in French 101.
  8:27pm
Sunny:

I guess Abba had their thing but yeah. I think Sweden is responsible for more hits for US artists like Britney Spears so they def know what they’re doing. But… I wish they had their own sound sometimes.
Avatar 🎸 8:27pm
MOM WHIG:

Eric - guess French 101 comes in handy sometimes

My connection to Sweden was doing the one and only tour for The Daytonas, who some of you might recall was Stomachmouths-related. They really were like a Swedish Untamed Youth, but smoother... they were really good at writing songs
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:32pm

still kicking myself for not seeing the Jackets when they were here.
