Mike W., how stands your field today?

K8's sched. suddenly changed, and our old dog walker is out of commission, so it looks like I'm working from home this week while we sort that out. But there are worse fates than watching the kittens play!

Hey, Marley, Strandlund, Guido, 12539, G, and of course Yeti Bob again!

There's a scene in Jailhouse Rock where Elvis Presley's character is surrounded by jazz hounds discussing Lennie Tristano. When someone asks his opinion, the answer is: "Lady I don't know what the hell you're talking about."

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:56am YETI BO:

Theremin has a purer tone - with the saw you can hear the horsehair a little (if you listen for it)
  9:57am Regina Stargazer:

It was a saw. If it is Tom Waits, it's usually garbage turned beautiful instruments ♡
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:57am Brian in UK:

Steveo oh my! Awww love this song super cute cover CP :)
  10:09am Peter K.:

For the record, the Bill Evans album you mentioned, “Conversations With Myself” — on which he actually overdubbed himself twice — was recorded eight years after that Lennie Tristano album. Tristano presumably inspired Evans to do what he did, but it took the inspiration a while to take hold.
Avatar 10:10am Joe McG:

Thanks for the info, steveo! @Mike W.: She sings it beautifully. I mean, it takes a lot of courage to take on Anne Briggs, in my view. She does well! @Peter: I like the Bill Evans record more, but it's cool that Tristano had this inspirational idea!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

BillEvans 'Convo with Myself' famous for exposition of him as Composer utilizing multi-tracking. All in his head like Brian Wilson... Clapton in Cream would do two tracks of bitchen wailing - but Hendrix would genuinely construct things...

I heard there are Blue Turtle outtakes with the lyric "I hope Russians do it in the shower too" but someone talked him out of it.

@Oxidized: Ha ha ha. And then the Loch Ness monster showed up to eat the blue turtles.

Cadillac was founded in 1902, so it's possible he was sitting in one.

I was also confused by George Wallace because one of my teachers was Mrs Wallace.
