This is the kind of thing my neighbours really like; at least, when they were yelling at me over the back fence in July I think that's what they meant. Seemed enthusiastic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11pm
Dan Bodah:

Neighbor yelling: It's what's for Vocal Fry
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13pm
StringOFperils:

Neighbour yelling could be a form of vocal polyphony that expresses something along tribal lines.

Go Fryers!

Toothgrinder Tom:

I find this soothing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:16pm
StringOFperils:

Me too. Still. This through a bluetooth speaker in the plants outside on Oct. 31 could be pretty great.

Toothgrinder Tom:

Do you think Nelson from the Simpsons has ever heard this?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:24pm
StringOFperils:

!!!! I was think about how much Dolmen Music, the whole LP, is perfect for this. Hear on a good sound system; it's incredible what vocal cords can do.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27pm

Hi Hi Hi all! Wow! Hi Dan Bodah!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27pm

My copy of this from the early 80s is in perfect shape, because I can almost never put it on without fomenting conflict. (Philistines)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28pm
Dan Bodah:

@Paul, hi! @String, yeah, it works right? @Toothgrinder, Nelson listens to Mien folk music *constantly*

Shouldn't Dolmen Music be played on dolmens?

Hi Dan, thank you so much for the show. You always emphasize the weirdness of the voices you play, but some of the music you play is also just so beautiful and heartfelt. I would describe it more as the most unique vocal techniques, reflecting the world's vast diversity of approaches to the one instrument all cultures share: the human voice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:33pm
Dan Bodah:

@castor, thank you! @Rcihard S, see www.atlasobscura.com...

Ken From Hyde Park:

Over the last week, a couple DJs played something from the group Jud Jud. I felt they had a lovely vocal fry quality.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35pm
Dan Bodah:

@Ken, thanks for the tip! I'll check them out
Avatar 8:37pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

My understanding is JudJud got put on bills with RawkBands - & all they did was vocalize like Metal Rhythm sounds into a pair of mics. The bandname is onomatopoetic...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

They were probably tracks from this one - blog.wfmu.org...
