IMO, real Crocs are good, and stay put. Knock offs, not so much. The knock-offs tend to be thin soled making them useless if walking on stony or uneven ground. They also tend to be too floppy and may cause tripping.

David Foster Wallace used to teach a class at University of Texas that covered "popular" and "contemporary" fiction. The syllabus is online. It's spectacular. The syllabus starts with "All these books are cheap, mass market paperbacks." And it closes with "WARNING: Don't let any potential lightweightish-looking qualities of the texts delude you into thinking that this will be a blow-off-type class.
