Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:48am Threemoons:

This is such an amazing and poignant song. I still get mail from my place's prior tenant, but at least she lives in the building. BUT...once in a blue moon I get mail for a lady who lived at my place at least 3 tenancies ago.....kind of spooky.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:50am The Oscar:

Mornin'! My partner and I are about to pass the 11-year mark at our current apartment, and we STILL get junk mail for the previous tenant!
Avatar 9:50am Joe McG:

@Threemoons: At my address, I still get mail for two tenants ago.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:51am Ken From Hyde Park:

Mail getting sent to a departed tenant is arguably a better premise than an ex signing you up for unwanted magazines and tourism brochures.
Avatar 9:51am HyperDose:

Oh yeah, this is rockin'!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:51am Threemoons:

@Joe McG wow...
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:53am Threemoons:

A friend of mine inherited the loft he grew up in on Greene Street and he has never moved out-it has been his address since birth. His Dad passed in the early 90's and he STILL gets jury duty summons addressed to his late father as well as morbid stuff like...funeral home and cemetery ads addressed to his late Dad. He's been keeping a photo log of the snarky replies that he's been writing on the envelopes along with the Return to Sender general stamp....
  9:54am Kpx:

Helloey Joey McGaskoey
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:56am Phillippe:

we've been getting the occasional threatening-looking envelope from medical billing departments for the prior owner who died a year and a half ago at the nursing home.

  10:12am Rod Serling:

I received mail for the previous occupant at my place. I wrote “return to sender“ on it.Turns out the sender moved, and the previous occupant here is now the new occupant there. So they got their letter.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17am Alvy Singer:

When I lived on E.58th Street my phone number on the land line used to belong to Brooke Shields. Her Uncle would call us from Miami and leave a lengthy detailed voice mail message about his upcoming day or previous evening. Actor Kevin Nealon would also phone the number too.

  10:36am Andres:

Good morning, Joe and all! Digging this morning’s sounds thus far. And yet being teased with “my neighbours are weird” with no follow through is leaving me feeling cheated ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

'Alternative' - the perfect label to Ghettoize & compartmentalize... Otoh- was it more charming & Our Own when it was more Underground as College Rawk... Buddy Holly Lives.

College Rock is not necessarily the go-to for more of the indie pop stuff like Magnetic Fields. College Rock sound is more in the R.E.M. territory

Chris Spedding was actually one of the Wombles band when they played live. He figured that since he was wearing a costume, no-one would know it was him. Unfortunately, playing every night, with only one costume, made of 70s fabrics, I think it was pretty unpleasant by the end of it...

Wow! This is some Bob Brainen rock right here. I hope Numero puts this on wax.
  11:17am paul:

Good point Joe, but he has to share that with Bowie.

I have Elvis Presley fridge magnets. My cat Harvey kept knocking the one of Elvis in swimming trunks. Had to move it out of reach.
  11:18am Kpx:

Well I can tell you this, Dave the spazz absolutely loves elbow parsley.
Avatar 11:19am Joe McG:

@Kpx: So do I, although I hardly ever play him. He doesn't need me to!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 11:20am Handy Haversack:

Joe, I wanted to send you a picture of SWAGVENT, but apparently my camera will no longer connect to the computer. I am, once again, defeated by forces I don't understand and can barely keep up with. But take it as thanks, and if I ever can, I'll send the pix along.

In the meantime, I'll be building a panic room out of wood and cloth.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 11:21am karlward:

My mom sent our kids some Elvis trading cards recently
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 11:22am karlward:

And long ago the kids memorized "Elvis is Everywhere" by Mojo Nixon

I think I have something by Elyse Weinberg that I bought after hearing it and loving it (maybe on this show). I filled it under W and forgot about it. Now I have to remember to look for it when I get home.

The evil, anti-Elvis. Yes.

@Joe , A set of trucker music would be cool
Avatar 11:29am Joe McG:

Calling your soft rock band “Country”, what a brilliant move. I hope there’s a soft rock band out there called “Metal”.
