All good here at the bay, chris
  3:12pm David in London:

TDK, if you say their name backwards three times in front of a mirror...your housemates will give you weird looks.

Phillippe! Hola! All well here, thanks, enjoying some cold drinks and light snacks in the garden, with a soundtrack most excellent. How are you?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:14pm chris in the redwoods:

ahhh, ifny! excellent. was up in the Cascades (central Oregon) a few weeks ago. beautiful!
Avatar 3:16pm TDK60:

I think so, David. I've been noticing more of these sorts of names recently. So-and-so with the Something-or-others, with Guest Another-un.

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:32pm Phillippe:

All good here, David. Work is driving me nuts, but other than that, the peaches are keen
Avatar 3:33pm ifny:

@chris Central Oregon is gorgeous. I spent some quality time near Madras for the solar eclipse. The fields of wild sage made the sky smell like pancakes. To get home, I travelled through the Painted Hills afterwards, purple and pink and orange, just wow. I'm currently above the arbitrary geographic imaginary line north of Seattle and south of BC.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Phillippe:

hey, Stanley, Scott!
Avatar 3:34pm ifny:

@chris AKA northern Cascadia. You're just past the southern petering out of the Cascadia bio-region I guess :)
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:35pm dreamyandseedy:

hi julie! i listened to the world goth day show over the weekend while doing chores outside in the bright sun. it was a great show!!
Avatar 3:35pm ifny:

I'm guessing this gorgeous cover of Goodbye Blue Sky is by David Ari Leon?
Avatar 3:36pm ifny:

@Julie I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. Don't let the neighbours grind you down!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:37pm Julie:

Ifny I'm not sure it just says piano tribute but it may be!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm Scott67:

G'day Phillippe.✌😎
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:40pm chris in the redwoods:

near the coast, north of San Francisco, ifny. so kinda southernish for the coastal Redwood region.

home ownership is a rewarding pain in the ass, but still a pain in the ass, i've found Julie. :)
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:40pm Julie:

yes, ifny you are correct. Funny how it wasn't tagged with his name.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm Scott67:

All my good neighbours are selling up. So dreading new ones for me to train all over again.
Avatar 3:41pm ifny:

At least the piano was credited. Instruments have feelings too. Not to mention overhead.

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:42pm Julie:

hiya Rich!
  3:44pm David in London:

Stanley, Scotty, evening chaps.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

Hey @ifny it’s in the SW corner of Brooklyn. Sort of a transitional neighborhood before you go over the bridge to Staten Island
  3:44pm headcleaner:

Know what you mean about "challenges", Julie (beyond the simple matter of a roof over one's head). Time is your friend, and hopefully will help you get it all sorted out, in the end. In the meantime, a lot of people here benefit from from your knowledge and your positive vibe every week.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Julie:

heya David! oh my, I may have to turn a light on in here
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:45pm Julie:

aww thanks headcleaner!

@Rich ah thanks!

Avatar 3:51pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

Good evening David!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:52pm Julie:

hey there Bas!
  3:52pm David in London:

Bas!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:54pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

Hearing Chic reminds me that it has been 40 years since my 8th grade class took a bus ride from Queens for a week at Colonial Williamsburg, VA. The soundtrack for the ride was mostly Chic, MJ - Off The Wall, and Rappers’ Delight. Kids with boo boxes. I got to sneak in side 1 of Blondie Parallel Lines.
Avatar 3:55pm ifny:

@Julie you could always affect friendly obliviousness and visit them with a tin of baked goods and an 'I'm your new neighbour nice to meetcha' vibe. And 'I'm looking forward to settling into the neighbourhood, if you want to have tea sometime or if there's anything I need to know here's my contact info'. Maybe they don't know how to ask for what they want, so they get all passive aggressive and overreact. Then if they don't get the escalation they expect, it could derail the toxic pattern they are accustomed to.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Phillippe:

hey Bas
Avatar 3:56pm ifny:

Now I'm imagining what kind of neighbours the two on the Ti-Tho album cover would make.
Avatar 🦇 3:57pm Bas NL:

Hi David! Hi Phillippe!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Julie:

They look cool to me!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Stanley:

Hi chris, Phillippe and David.
Looking for a new place to live, myself.
(Along with a whole lot of others, it seems)
  4:01pm David in London:

“Hi, I’m Julie, your new neighbour. I brought you a Controlled Bleeding album...”
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:02pm Julie:

one of the neighbors had a huge trump sign on their house. Not even their yard THEIR HOUSE. so I'm a bit wary
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:04pm luka:

i had rad as hell older neighbors and they left and i don’t like the new ones it’s a drag!!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:05pm chris in the redwoods:

i have a trumpian neighbor as well. we hang out occasionally, but i fear our last hang, where BLM came up (about a year ago) was a tipping point for me. i haven't been back since. that said, he's a neighbor and we all support and look out for each other, wrt our neighborhood.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:05pm Phillippe:

We are "the new people" in our neighborhood, even though we've been here 3 years. We bought the second oldest house in the neighborhood (built 1955, been falling doen since 1995...) from the 93 year old wife of the guy who's parents built the house. Pillars of the community, even have a room in the rec center named after them. The old owners used to let people walk through their yard to get to the community park next to us, use the water access, etc. People have been very respectful and don't take those liberties anymore (we don't mind if they do) but its a weird experience. Perfectly nice neighbors, but our buying the pace definitely upset a lot of things that people used to take advantage of.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:05pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

Pouring and booming here now. Darkness wins
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:06pm Ken From Hyde Park:

There are a variety of Jeeps & pickups up here that drive around with massive flags flapping out back. Instead of getting triggered or intimidated, I laugh that they must be going to or returning from a parade.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:06pm Phillippe:

*down not doen
*the place not pace
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:06pm Julie:

I saw some lightning!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:07pm Phillippe:

Just started raining here! Different cloud, I would imagine...
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:07pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

Time for Bluetooth headphones
Avatar 4:07pm ifny:

@Julie wariness is understandable! But hopefully you have at least one thing in common, the desire for no stress with neighbours. A good foot forward could just signal that you are nice and reasonable and they should leave you be :) Camaraderie isn't required. So maybe giving them your email instead of phone number in case they have larger issues with boundaries:P
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:07pm chris in the redwoods:

this Rev Rev Rev track reminds me of the things i miss about seeing live music. the noise! <turns up volume>
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:09pm chris in the redwoods:

i also have a non-trumpian neighbor who is an a-hole more often than not, btw. so, mileage varies.
Avatar 4:09pm ifny:

@Scott67 - I’m with Gus
  4:19pm headcleaner:

I kind of like being forced to stay inside (as the current storm dictates I should), despite having stuff I'm supposed to do "out there". Lockdown taught me that :)
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:19pm Julie:

I think they are just intent on harassing my contractor. The inspector showed up and when he said he had the permits he called him a liar :/
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:19pm Julie:

headcleaner ain't that the truth!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:20pm listener james from westwood:

Avatar 4:27pm TDK60:

Martin Bisi, odd music. He produced an early Sonic Youth album if I recall.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:27pm luka:

@B R M {clay pigeon voice} you’re not experiencing any cape drift or spooky bones, are you?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:28pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Today's rainfall will induce a grass growth spurt, so the neighbors can complain about that again.

hiya Handy! We missed you last night, Cannibal was even on mic!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:34pm Julie:

did you get caught in the storm, Handy?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:35pm Phillippe:

Julie: Its funny how territorial people can get. My eldest is looking to buy a house and asked us to go with him to view a place he was interested in. We get there and my son and his agent had the two spaces in front of the house taken (suburban tract shoebox houses) so I parked in front of the next door neighbor's place. We're there about 20 minutes and the neighbor pulls up in his big ass pick-up loaded with cases of bottled water. He parks in front of my car and then stands in the middle of the road, hands on hips, making exaggerated body motions to indicate he's looking for someone. I see him and ask if he wants me to move. He says yes, I move my car, and he backs up to where I was parked, then pulls a hand truck out of the bed and starts loading it with the bottled water. Two things made it really absurd -- he had a driveway that went practically to the front door, and by moving to the space I was parked in meant he had to drag his cart even farther to get to his driveway (which was uphill!). Certainly claimed his turf. I told my son to nope right outta considering that place...
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:35pm Handy Haversack:

D'oh! We are so overextended right now, Julie. I meant to come listen and then had a total brain melt.

No, no. I haven't even left the apt. today. I regret it. I might run out for broccoli soon.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:36pm Julie:

I worked with Hemmings one, and he told me about all this stuff.
