  12:17pm
Eric Kilkenny:

"Joe Meek's Tea Chest Tapes: 67 crates containing nearly 2000 reels of previously unheard tracks by 1960s acts including David Bowie's first band The Konrads, Tom Jones, Ray Davies, Billy Fury, Gene Vincent, Georgie Fame, youthful singer-songwriter Mark Feld (later to become glam rock idol Marc Bolan), Rod Stewart, Jimmy Page, John Leyton, The Tornados."

@ursula it's even more insane than that! Get this! He used to record over his tapes. So his mono stuff that he recorded stereo over. When you do that you got L/R BUT it usually leaves a slice down the center to seperate the two channels so you can hear what's left of his earlier mono recordings from those.. so there might be a lot of stuff

That Meek archive sounds utterly mindblowing. I never even heard of that Bowie band. What, was he 12 years old? And the idea of Tom Jones + Joe Meek.. don’t want to get my hopes up...
Avatar 12:36pm
Otissimo:

Oops, not RPM... Castle did the meek box set in 2005. RPM did the extended New World CD with interviews. 15+ years ago, memory, had to go over to the CD wall.
