That Hal Blaine show was a major highlight. I've said this before (I think) but I'd love to hear a whole show where Dennis Diken talks about the drum recording techniques used on awesome tracks like these. "People In Love" has most of the kit in just the right speaker, which is something you just don't hear much anymore.

@karlward – thank you kindly, that Hal show with Joe was a big highlight for me, glad to know so many people dug it! I don't know much about the mic technique on Hal's drums except from what I see in photos but I'd bet there weren't too many used in the 60s and maybe the same can be said for the 70s? alot of sound was picked up from overheads.
