Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from April 30, 2021 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

In what must have been 1979, my friends and I went dumpster-diving in the dumpster of a building in which Warner-Electra-Asylum had an office. We did it a few times. One time, we grabbed copies of the single of "Contort Yourself".

We did not know what to make of it. It was never played on any radio station in our area-not even the college stations.

The only place we ever heard it was on our own stereos with our own copies from the dumpster.
