Genghis Blues - must see - that and the In the Heart of Tuva comp got me into Tuvan throat-singing and I'm sure I got into them from FMU!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm
Dan Bodah:

Unfortunately, they didn't have much of a budget so even the original quality is probably not that great. I'm glad they did it though, opened up a whole world. You can get the CD still -- at Bandcamp! genghisblues.bandcamp.com...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm

@khd, I think the most downright honest expression I've ever heard from Waits is his whining about having to go fishing with John so early.
Avatar 7:34pm

@Dan -- it was! one of the best shows ever, pretty sure that is where i picked up the soundtrack too
Avatar 7:35pm

@dan i could listen to 24 hours of Waits and Lurie walking down a beach talking about driftwood art or whatever

Avatar 7:54pm
Tom Miller:

When we visited the Ainu Museum in Shiraoi, Hokkaido my friend brought a cassette of early 20th-century Ainu wax-cylinder recordings from the museum archives as a gift. Our hosts put it on in the car but it had gotten mixed up with a Marilyn Manson tape. The elder Ainu was like what the heck is this?! but his son was like "Hey, our ancestors rocked!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm
Dan Bodah:

@annie -- ah! I see! That is really cool. I wish I could understand the poetry in his music.
