I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

@Bryce: I read in the WIRE article that Keith dropped the final 'S' because "Keith Tippetts' Sextet" was just too awkward.

@People Like Us - I knew a woman who was doing her doctorate work on Nancarrow. She helped program modern player pianos to play his scores.

Excellent, Toutevoix! Yoko worked with Ornette. I remember seeing photos and hearing snippets at a Yoko exhibition at the United Nations years ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Mr. Pumpy:

@Toutevoix...I caught him about 10-15 years back. By then I think everyone pretty much knew why they were there. Could have been an exodus of sorts. Being it was at NJPAC, it was hard to tell. I know one thing...I was travelling across dimensions. It was something else. He was nearing 80 and simply killing it!

seems another time...About Ornette Coleman concert, ( I'm not so old merde...It was 1999 I think ), well summer concert in which a lot of people go without really listening to it, then famous name historical moment whatever, but the mix with those souffleurs Jajouka was real really crazy cause they would maintain trance energy kind of sound blowers sometimes agressive then inside the maelstrom wuld come out fragments of melodic phrases I don't know I'm more a listener but will say it was about Organizing Chaos that I remember and working on it....wow and those people really angry leaving ahah was ALIVE

I used own a BYG three LP set of a concert by Alan Silva. I think it was called From the Lunar Surface. I also owned the ESP issued Skillfulness. Don't know what happened to these records. Don't think I sold them, just some how lost them in the shuffle.

The closest I ever came to seeing Free Jazz icons was Oliver Lake at the Montclair Art Museum about 4 years ago. Wonderful show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Handy Haversack:

I had a drink an a bar's outdoor seating yesterday, which I had not done in ... well, you all know. It felt completely delirious.

Of course, two drinks there cost as much as a handle of Bacardi, so one can see the financial points of letting some pandemic habits linger ...

Bryce, thanks for today. I am trying to let the music do all the thinking for me. It's got to do a better job than I can manage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm YETI BOB:

Hey Handy - I'm glad you are getting back to a little bit of normal social life. This morning Mrs Yeti and I sat at a coffeeshop and drank coffee from ceramic mugs, struck up a conversation with someone from the neighborhood I've never talked to before, it was delightful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm Passaic River Blues:

@Krys O.: that sounds awesome. A couple of weeks ago JA played one or two Oliver Lake tracks and reminded me I hadn't thought of that Essex County luminary in a long time.
  1:32pm WM:

The liner notes on the back cover of Alan Silva's Skilfulness quote a Buddhist text that reads in part "you shall become a Buddha! Rejoice!" I wrote a letter to Alan Silva asking "do you really think everyone will eventually become a Buddha?" I sent it to the ESP Records address. I never got a reply. But years later I was lucky enough to catch AS conduct a small orchestra at the Vision Festival (don't remember which one).

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm Krys O.:

Ooh, Mr. Pumpy you said the magic words salmon and broccoli. I like salmon poached too. I've been using parchment paper to cook my fish lately. You can throw in the veggies and olive oil in there and voila!

I made my approximation of Polish Catholic Easter breakfast on Sunday with a take on eggs benedict, but with salmon under the poached egg and horseradish on top. Yum!

Miss Kitka just had another seizure last night, actually. But it's the first seizure for three weeks, so she's at least improving! I'm not sure if it's because I had to come back to my moldy apartment, or what. I still have to bring Ozzie to the vet, but Miss Kitka was the priority!

And also!

The Housing Code inspector had been by three times and my landlord didn't fix shit, but he didn't fine him. So I called my congressman, emailed a bunch of people, tweeted at them, and the Housing Inspector just called me to say he gave my landlord til Monday, and that Construction Code will be coming by. Which explains why he's suddenly fixing things in the building this week.

  2:20pm WM:

Thanks for highlighting the work of JCOA. There is a Leroy Jenkins record I've never heard: For Players Only. Not sure if it was a JCOA project. Would love to hear it if you have a copy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm Passaic River Blues:

@WM: yeah, these last three records have been so good!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm coelacanth∅:

greetings Bryce and all
Avatar 2:21pm Fox:

Michael - Well, I need to find a doctor to diagnose me with mold related illness for a civil suit. And he's filed against me for an eviction, which sucks when trying to figure out where to move.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm Michael 98145:

Cripes. sorry.
  2:23pm annette:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm steveo:

Avatar 2:26pm Toutevoix:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Handy Haversack:

Yo, coela.
  2:28pm annette:

@headcleaner. ya know how many times i want to bust in and say "HEY it goes over yer nose" but i do my best to maintain calm and avoid confrontation. trust in kharma
  2:28pm WM:

Last time I heard Grachan Moncur III Echoes of a Prayer was years ago on WKCR. That riff has stuck in my mind all that time. Thanks for the experience of anamnesis.
Avatar 2:28pm Bryce:

@diL - hallooooo! ps what's daona?

@WM - i have heard that! very nice! veers from super dense to to super sparse solo improv, with a bit of psychedelic reverbiness thrown in at a couple spots. not sure if i can locate it (digitally) in a pinch, but i'll put it on the docket!

@toutevoix - re vino, if you have a free moment, please send several thousand crates of barolo chinato

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm David (in London):

Bryce, it's the musical moniker I (co)trade under. Here's our FMU artist page:

Avatar 2:32pm Toutevoix:

Richt @Bryce you nailed it I'm close to Piemont Barolo go go ( in fact I intend to change work, I can try export export....find me a place to land there )
  2:32pm mic_a:

Oh, I've been missing so much (as always, I must live for the archives). And two albums in a row that I actually have in the collection for decades! "Gardens Of Harlem" and "Numatik Swing Band" (and it took me decades to realize that 'numatik' was a play on 'pneumatic' -- doy). Thanks Bryce!
  2:34pm headcleaner:

@annette - in yesterday's case it was no mask at all and of course blabbing on his phone. But yeah, my solution in those situations is to just GTFO out of there. I'll pick up my package next week, thanks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm Krys O.:

When I'm on the bus and I see someone drop their mask to talk on the phone or eat/drink, I get off at the next available stop.

Krys I totally understand you...after one year we escaped the city
this is also weird how much we became used to masks....

Putting nemesis powers to good use, Fox. Pulling for a good outcome for you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm Krys O.:

Ugh, runners. I move away from them and they give ME dirty looks.
  2:39pm mic_a:

Oh, wait -- 3 in a row! I DO have "Echoes Of Prayer" (alphabetizing confusion). This is unprecedented in the venn diagrams of Bryce playlists and my records.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm Krys O.:

Behind my mask I can make whatever expression I want to or mouth along to songs, stick my tongue out, do facial exercises, etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Krill Sagan:

Happy Friday, Brycetronauts, & Bryce at the helm
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm David (in London):

Hey Krill!
Avatar 2:44pm Fox:

Krys o: Yes. I called them, actually. Until I have a doctor who can attribute my symptoms to mold, they won't take me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm Krys O.:

Ah, sorry, Fox.
  2:49pm JBoogie:

I'm late but i am going to enjoy the hell out of the next 11 minutes
Avatar 2:50pm Fox:

My main doctor got canned right after Covid started. I tracked down his address and sent him a letter, but he never replied.
