Isn't there also the word "entr'acte" for interlude?

We just heard about Prepared Piano on Morricone Island!

Caught me offguard once again with that prepared piano. I wasn't prepared.

Bethany Ryker:

That's awesome! Being in show-prep mode I rarely get a chance to hear Morricone Island in real time, but yaaaaay!

Bethany Ryker:

@TDK, yes - same with just a nuance of difference: Entr'acte literally means between Acts, as in a play or ballet. Intermezzi developed in the same way, but eventually became a stand-alone form, typically as short pieces for piano. Of course here I'll be playing things that break all those rules :)

Thanks for the explanation DJ BR. | The sounds of that Calleres PP piece were pretty.

Reminds of course a little bit of Gamelan or Electronics.

Apropos of this past December 16, that's when we did a show focusing on the 'En'tracte. I knew that time/date/place was stuck in my mind for a reason - even if a stretch!

hear hear Bethany! i like that, and it certainly applies to "modern day" reviewers as well (assholes like ritchie runtberger and robert christgob, who don't even know 1/2 the music when they review it)

Agree with you there about the writer in '94. We're still lagging with patriarchy. I also tend to ignore music writers' opinions.
