Good afternoon Irene, hello one and all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm doctorjazz:

Hello Irene, and listeners!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm Webhamster Henry:

When the Rain Comes, play It's Only A Northern Song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm Michael 98145:

No gold idols, only music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm Webhamster Henry:

Joe McG just did a very Irene-y live set with Sarie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm listener james from westwood:

How do, Irene and all, and welcome to March!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Brian in UK:

Hello Irene.

A Northern song bought in North End Music Stores.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm alanr:

After a sleepless night for some unknown reason, today is a lazy day in the zone, perfect for eyes half-closed and the mind open to Irene's musical programming. YAWN!
Avatar 12:03pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

Hello Irene and fellow listeners
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm doctorjazz:

Celebrating George's birthday?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm Brian in UK:

My favourite line in Yellow Submarine, when they are trapped behind blue meanie glass. Think it is the John voice says Blue glass, must be from Kentucky.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm Irene Trudel:

Good day to you, Sean, doctorjazz, Henry, Michael, james, Brian, alanr and Sylvia! Trying to live a life that isn't real now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm Michael 98145:

we -are- here now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm alanr:

the audio vibe here is working perfectly for my half conscious day! thank you. How did you know?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Irene Trudel:

alanr, that's the idea-- a nice drifty show. I just had my first vaccination this past Saturday and I'm sort of in a tired-dream state. But feeling content and cared for.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Irene Trudel:

And yes, doctorjazz, celebrating George again this week a little.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm listener james from westwood:

Yay for the first shot!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm Michael 98145:

good news, Irene
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Michael 98145:

since Spring is approaching, we are enjoying tree pollens over here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Irene Trudel:

Ooh, tree pollens. My least favorite aspect of spring.
  12:42pm MIKE COOPER:

A MICHAEL CHAPMAN SONG
  12:43pm MIKE COOPER:

Sorry for shouting
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Brian in UK:

Hail Mr Cooper
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm Irene Trudel:

MIKE, YOU'RE WELCOME TO SHOUT MICHAEL CHAPMAN'S PRAISES! (Michael just turned 80 in late January).
  12:50pm MIKE COOPER:

i turn 80 next year as well - dont tell anyone please :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm Irene Trudel:

It'll be our little secret, Mike!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Working and lurking but loving the show, as ever, Irene! Happy March! x
Avatar 1:06pm Jeff Moore:

(Enjoying the show here in JC without chit-chatting, BTW. It's great as always to have you in a regular spot in the Drummer lineup.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Irene Trudel:

Hey, Summer and Michael and Sylvia and Jeff! No comments necessary as you listen in.
  1:15pm headcleaner:

missed the Sarie set but will look into it!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm Irene Trudel:

Hiya headcleaner and Nulsh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm Rick from SC:

Hi Irene and all, nice to hear some Peter Gabriel
Avatar 1:30pm Listening Out There:

Just got here. Was sorry to read a short time ago of the passing of Ralph Peterson, wonderful drummer, cancer at 58...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm redkayak:

Happy Monday all!
  1:36pm Dean:

Ralph Peterson?! No! Too, too young.

I think the Peter Gabriel Security tour might have been the last time I caught him live. If it was the tour for the prior album, then he played a lot of the material that would appear on Security. Anyway, we drove down to San Diego to hear him, then later to Berkeley (all from LA at the time). Because I'd seen him in San Diego, I knew when he would leave the stage and enter the audience via an aisle at back of the venue. At that point we left our seats and walked to the lobby where, indeed, he was poised to walk down the aisle. I shouted, "I love you, Peter Gabriel." Very adolescent of me, despite the fact that I was then a young adult.
  1:38pm headcleaner:

it's adolescent, but I do it all the time
  1:39pm headcleaner:

though usually I say "we" rather than "I"
  1:40pm headcleaner:

but it's the truth so why not say it?
  1:40pm Dean:

Now I live in Berkeley, and when I was taking my daughter to school here pre-pandemic I would routinely drive past the house where I stayed with friends in '82 or thereabouts to hear the concert.
  1:42pm Dean:

Another Gabriel/Berkeley nexus story: I work(ed, i.e., pre-pandemic) more or less across the street from the Greek Theater. One day I realized Gabriel was due to appear there that very night. I notified a buddy of mine in LA who has amassed a huge collection of, uhm, live recordings of m-a-n-y bands, including Gabriel. About a week later a package with a CDR arrived in the mail. It was the show from the Greek.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm Irene Trudel:

Welcome Rick, L.O.T, erdkayak and Dean! Sorry to hear about Ralph.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm Irene Trudel:

Dean, I saw Peter Gabriel a few times, the best being at The PNC Arts Center in NJ. Truly transcendent. Some good stories there and so sweet about that CDR!
Avatar 1:50pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

this track was GREAT
Avatar 1:51pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

the whole set actually
  1:55pm headcleaner:

agreed
  1:57pm headcleaner:

appreciate the BA imagery, dean - haven't been back there since... about when I used to listen to PG a lot
  2:00pm Dean:

On the trek to San Diego we got a flat tire. Consequently, we missed the opening act, a stand-up comedian. I believe the comedian was followed by a band before Gabriel's appearance. Was it Jules & the Polar Bears? Or Random Hold?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm doctorjazz:

1st I'm hearing about Ralph Peterson, 2020 drags into 2021. Sad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm doctorjazz:

Passed today, maaaaannnnn...
Avatar 2:16pm TDK60:

Hi Irene.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm doctorjazz:

Saw Jenny Scheineman with Alison Miller's Boom Tic Boom at Birdland, that was a great show (have I said I miss live shows?...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Michael 98145:

... so young - Ralph Peterson Jr. (May 20, 1962 – March 1, 2021)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm Michael 98145:

i miss live shows more than i miss the bars
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Irene Trudel:

Hey TDK 60! doctorjazz, I saw quite a few of Jenny's and Allison's ensembles playing iive. OH yeah, do we miss live shows TREMENDOUSLY. Agreed, Michael, bars were never the attraction for me. It's always the music.
  2:28pm Dean:

Acquired this Monk box, vinyl, a very long time ago at a bargain basement price at Tower Records when they were letting go of Riverside et al. inventory. Same for the Bill Evans box.
  2:31pm Dean:

No, Twisted Sister would have broken up the mood.
Avatar 2:31pm βrian:

Back from the outside world of viral clouds. This is nice.
Avatar 2:33pm βrian:

No vaccinations to be had here in Wisconsin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Michael 98145:

Hell, i miss even being able to hang out in record stores ...
Avatar 2:34pm TDK60:

I've heard some US states are planning to re-open sooner than medical scientists say is safe.
  2:35pm headcleaner:

@TDK60 - you can bet they will
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm Michael 98145:

Sadly, sounds like LA, CA, may be doing just that
  2:35pm Dean:

Phil Minton has a work based on texts from Joyce.
  2:35pm headcleaner:

Emperor Cuomo has reinstated indoor dining, despite the raging 8 percent testing positivity rate in NYC
Avatar 2:36pm TDK60:

..And possibly cause us to have to stay in longer and/or again...
  2:37pm headcleaner:

people just need to chill, stay home + listen to Irene until this blows over. with full unemployment benefits for all affected, and stays on leases for all places of public enjoyment, of course
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm doctorjazz:

I have that Evans box (actually a few of them). Got a 45 RPM Michele Legrand's Legrand Jazz album this past Saturday, got to listen to side 1 this morning before work, really nice! (Not cheap...)
  2:41pm Cronbat:

Splendid show, Irene!
A soothing balm on the rash that is Monday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Holy cow, Irene, this East River Pipe is wonderful!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm doctorjazz:

Heard Taskan on Someday Matinee, album on the way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm fred:

@Dean: I think I saw a couple of these performance by Phil Minton. It was with John Butcher, Roger Turner and Veryan Weston (a project called Mouthfull of Ecstasy)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm Michael 98145:

Thanks again, Irene. Hope you feel perky again soon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm Irene Trudel:

Hi βrian! Hope the vaccines come your way soon. And I hope state governments have a little more sense about opening up. But that might be asking too much.
  2:49pm Dean:

That was it, fred! I have the disc from Victo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks cronbat! Summer and Michael and Sylvia, East River Pipe is Fred Cornog, who put out some really amazing pop tunes in the 90's and 2000's. He's been a bit quiet lately to my knowledge, which is a shame.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm doctorjazz:

Thanks, Irene, feel good!
  2:53pm Dean:

Saw Butcher at Victo with Xavier Charles and...somebody else? Perhaps the most quiet show I've ever "heard." Sometimes you could only hear the spittle at the edges of their mouths.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks for listening in everybody! Hosting a show with all this great music always makes me feel better. Catch you next Monday at noon. Stay here for Ken's Last Ever Radio Extravaganza!
Avatar 2:56pm TDK60:

Thanks, Irene.
Avatar 2:57pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

  2:58pm ?:

Hey there Irene, Glad to be here this afternoon after your first set.. Looks as if I've missed some fantastic music so far, but will check the archive later on to be sure! Thanks to you and Peter for the wonderful, bittersweet tribute to Chick Corea a couple of weeks ago. Was great hearing the very first Return To Forever electric band with Stanley Clarke, Lenny White, and my guitar teacher and friend of many years, Bill Connors, who played on the "Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy" LP. Bill stayed with the band for about a year, until moving on, though he made a brief return for some performances during the Return To Forever reunion tour in 2009. As Bill said many years ago:"Chick was my hero. I wanted to be Chick Corea on guitar." Sail on Mr. Corea!! 🙏🏼
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm Brian in UK:

Fred Cornog is wonderful. He picks a topic and then makes an album on that theme. The Gasoline Age is tops, a perfect nightime album.
  2:59pm prguitar:

It's Phil Rivlin above Irene! ♥️
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00pm listener james from westwood:

Thanks, Irene!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm Brian in UK:

Oh are we done. Great job, Irene.
Avatar 4:46am Sean in Bristol UK:

Thanks for a great show Irene, roll on next Monday
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10am Irene Trudel:

Thanks all! Gotcha Phil. BTW, the link to the Adrian Crowley event (and many others) on St. Patrick's Day is here: www.stpatricksfestival.ie...
