Hi David. Huddled under the safety blanket this morning....cold....wet.....

HyperDose:

Morning, David. Any snow in your part of the globe?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49am
David (in London):

HyperDose. We did have some last week, but it was pretty much all gone by the end of last weekend. Yesterday was lovely here, almost like Spring. Almost...

HyperDose:

I thought the worst may have been over...until I saw another advisory in effect until 7pm tonight. Only a bit more snow, but now everything from the past 2days is going to freeze. 🥶

fred:

@Stanley: Were you involved in a conversation about Lanark yesterday? (I saw it but was busy and then the show was over)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07am
Stanley:

Hi fred. Only to the extent that I was given the book last year but hadn't read it yet. Handy Haversack has just received it from his friend in Edinburgh. Have you read it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11am
fred:

@Stanley: Many years ago. I disliked it while reading it, too mushy and the surreal stuff seemed adolescent at the time, but I do remember some of it vividly, so I guess it made an impression. So my take is it's worth reading, even though it can be grating
Avatar 5:15am
BadBob:

anyone know what that was
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16am
Stanley:

fred: I figured that, from a quick perusal. However, unless it really is too much for me, I owe it to my friend to read it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19am
fred:

@Stanley: I think it won't be a waste of time

This is weirdly good
Avatar 5:36am
VincentNifigance:

@Stanley it has a very ‘I Might Be Wrong’ Radiohead ‘homage’ backing track, but I like this “Old Tom eyeing the abyss”. Video is decent too.
Avatar 5:37am
VincentNifigance:

Incidentally, anyone watching “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” by Adam Curtis on BBC iPlayer?

Vincent, I've booked it to watch this weekend. You seen the first episode yet?

Really great show! Thank you, Stan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42am
Stanley:

I've got the Zappa doc lined up this weekend. Finally available in UK.
Avatar 5:43am
VincentNifigance:

@David (in London) I’ve seen three now. Critics have said it’s incoherent, I don’t think so. It has a lot of threads but they are parallels to one another so not easy to lose track of. It’s really good.
Avatar 5:44am
VincentNifigance:

@Stanley Want to see that. I believe people have complained it’s not in depth enough for the hardcore, but you’d need a lengthy series for that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46am
Stanley:

Sure, Vincent. My gripe with musician biopics is too much back story, not letting the music do the talking. That said, I'm looking forward to seeing footage I haven't seen before.
Avatar 5:50am
VincentNifigance:

@Stanley Yes, I think there’ll be tons of great archive stuff given the access they were granted.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51am
David (in London):

Vincent. I am generally a big fan of his work, but he does frustrate me at times when he resorts to that "And then everyone got more angry" / "And then the politicians became much more powerful" / "And then the banks became all-powerful" trope which he tends to deploy as a get-out-jail-free card in order to avoid having to explain the weak point of his argument. But I am looking forward to sitting down and giving it the eye.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52am
Stanley:

Yup, Vince. Costing a tenner on Altitude Films.
Groovy little tune this.

Was that The sermland sound sciences- vert 19 19 19??
Avatar 5:56am
VincentNifigance:

@David (in London) Yes, there’s an Adam Curtis bingo image out there you should look up. You have to have a grain of salt, he’s often very assertive and definitive with things that are debatable, but it’s always compelling and enlightening.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58am
Stanley:

Nice n easy transition into Friday, thanks Stan.
Underwater Theme Park, Give the Drummer Some, some Sheila B then a slice of Flange and Frigate. That's me today.
See you later, friends.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58am

Right, time for me to sit in a hilltop cave and meditate on the true meaning of 19am. Have a good weekend groovers.
