Listening live!
Hi Rob and my (late night, here) pals
Avatar 6:15pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

For all the talk of the Lunar Year - you seldom hear anybody playing Chinese or East Asian music for it. So this is very kewl.
Avatar 6:15pm slugluv1313:

@chresti -- awesome! thank you, RRN63!
(maybe that is how i heard? but Ye Olde Brain not remembering proper, hah!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18pm Stanley:

I got a second hand rose, I got it good.
Avatar 6:23pm slugluv1313:

@RRN63 -- so . . . does that mean 2010s are like 1950s?
(was born in January 1959 -- Earth Dog, i think)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm Ken From Hyde Park:

"Who is this?"
"Yes, it's The Hu."

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I wonder what's the cycles of metals? Death Metal, Speed Metal, Norwegian Black Metal, Nu Metal, etc. This could span centuries.
  6:45pm mazudog:

is this a Hanggai cover?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm Megaroni:

How perfect Rob! Just home from Manhattan Chinatown:)!

  6:51pm Cliff, just Cliff:

There has to be Post-Metal right? We’ve already got post-punk & post-rock (Godspeed!)
  7:24pm headcleaner:

the stuff we're hearing now is post-everything, as far as I'm concerned
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm chresti:

Tacos were great, therefore I retract the statement I made before.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39pm chresti:

I've lost track of the pres and posts.

Now I'm craving pho. Lots of good places to get that in Prague, there's a big Vietnamese community there
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57pm Iºkºeº:

Took a walk up through Brooklyn Chinatown earlier but not much happening. I think everyone's at home celebrating. A friend scored some really tasty-looking taro biscuits/cookies with sesame seeds yesterday from a street vendor so clearly that was the day to explore. None of that today.
Avatar 8:00pm Cliff, just Cliff:

It's ass cold outside, I'm sure not going out except to check my mailbox
  8:02pm headcleaner:

I'll be throwing together something 'asian-esque' after the show (steamed squash noodles from the hippie food coop, fresh cilantro, soy sauce, chili flakes etc) - we'll see how that goes
Avatar 8:05pm Bas NL:

Great set Rob!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06pm Rob W:

I'll be celebrating with a trip to the Asian grocery on Route 440 in Jersey City NJ on Monday morning! I know, it's another holiday too, at least around here...

  8:29pm Carmichael:

Where has the time gone? Heya Rob and listeners.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:42pm Scott67:

Dropping out a little bit?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44pm Rob W:

Thanks Scott67 - it looks like there were a couple of drop-outs but nothing sustained. If you hear a longer one let us know. Thanks!
Avatar 8:44pm Cliff, just Cliff:

Yeah I suddenly got a bunch too, are we doing mouth-harp music now?
Avatar 8:45pm slugluv1313:

this Jigten is SO beautiful, ethereal yet grounding (if that makes any sense!)
FINALLY had a chance to watch The Tibetan Book of The Dead documentary narrated by Leonard Cohen -- when i first heard about this (early 1990s?) all i could think was how eerie, almost disturbing, it would be to hear Leonard reading The Tibetan Book of The Dead (at the time, i had not realized it was a documentary) . . . but instead i found his narration incredibly soothing, like i wish he HAD recorded an actual reading of The Tibetan Book of The Dead, even if only in English
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45pm Rob W:

Yes on the mouth-harp, thanks Cliff.
Avatar 8:47pm Cliff, just Cliff:

Now I'm thinking of Olga from Siberia, Ken was really into her a few years ago
Avatar 8:49pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Chinese New Year is observed for the entire ~two weeks from New Moon to Full Moon - culminating then with the bright Moon in 'Festival of Lanterns'. A bit like all our Holidays wrapped into one in importance. It must feel very odd for those whom it is traditional to social distance - as it usually involves contintuous firecrackers & such. Altho other aspects are more private & family-oriented.
  8:50pm headcleaner:

outstanding work, Rob - enjoy your shopping trip tomorrow!
Avatar 8:51pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:
