The Five Elements correlate to the five traditionally visible Planet : Metal = Venus Water = Mercury Wood = Jupiter Fire = Mars Earth =Saturn Some Elements feed others: Water makes Wood, Wood makes Fire, Fire reduces things to Earth, Earth produces Metal, Metal holds Water (or melts to make liquid) - & Elements also conflict: Metal chops Wood, Wood saps Water, Water stifles Fire, Fire melts Metal, Metal taps Earth, Earth surrounds or muddies Water... It's a 12-year Cycle - so 2021 is Metal Ox, & 2032 will be Water Ox - like that. 12 Animals X 5 Elements = a 60-Year Cycle. So everybody born in the 1960s will turn 60 years old in the 2020s - & have their Chinese Year Return. For instance - the last Metal Ox was 1961... So ! - the 2020s will follow the pattern of the 1960s in this respect. 1961=2021, 1962=2022... Fwiw !
