A live, improvised sound collage experiment, going back 26 years, weaving mesmerizing new soundscapes from found and collected materials right in the present moment.
Pop music, speeches, live phone calls and spontaneous monologues become ambient loopy layered threads riding the liminal spaces between waking and dreaming. (Visit homepage.)

We're here to listen. We're here to help. (We never thought it could happen...)
Avatar 5:02pm fred:

Hello Kenzo and all
Avatar 5:04pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Sorry about all your dance events going bye bye
Avatar 5:10pm fred:

It sucks, but it's far worse for the dancers (no income, no training, they must be going crazy)
Avatar 5:17pm fred:

I like this a lot
Avatar 5:17pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I almost remember what it was like having to get up the nerve to leave the house.
Avatar 5:18pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Glad, fred! Not every show was at all the same, here's proof.
Avatar 5:24pm fred:

Echoes of early Steve Reich (Come Out or It's Gonna Rain) and Terry Riley's You're No Good
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm Rich in Washington:

I've been listening to the same short loop from a record on my sampler for a couple of days now. I swear it changes over time.
Avatar 5:27pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I haven't heard it and I concur.
Avatar 5:29pm fred:

@Rich: That's what Eliane Radigue said, and she's right
  5:29pm NowhereBoy91:

Hey, weird beards.
What's the happs?
Avatar 5:32pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

The answers are in there.
Avatar 5:35pm fred:

@Rich: did you ever go to a harsh noise wall show? Vomir is great at that static frequency pile up. He doesn't like that I won't stand with a garbage bag over my face during his sets, but moving around, sitting and standing lets me make my own show. I'm just not creative enough for my mind to fill in the blanks on its own
Avatar 5:35pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

(She's got some surprising news.)
Avatar 5:36pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I wish I could remember you dancing around at the Paris show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm Rich in Washington:

I've been to quite a few interesting 'Noise' shows. One of my favorite acts is a gentleman who performed under the monicker Soup Purse, so called because at one show, he showered participants with soup that was spewing out of a lady's purse which he was swinging around frantically, and the name stuck.
Avatar 5:42pm fred:

@Kenzo: That only happened in your mind. But speaking of dancing, Lucinda Childs' The Day had a soundtrack (in part) of sentences starting with "I remember the day". Turning rhythmic and meaningless after a while, but with random spikes of meaning
Avatar 5:43pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I had someone dancing right against the speaker during an avant loop show I did in Jersey City. At some point it blasted really loud and I still feel badly but she still talks to me so I guess it was OK.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm Rich in Washington:

Maybe my favorite Noise artist in my area is Daniel Menche, whose sonic sculptures are quite amazing.
Avatar 5:45pm fred:

@Rich: one of the reasons why I usually stay in the back of the room, near the exit (though soup is definitely one of the mildest thing I've seen thrown at a noise show)
Avatar 5:47pm fred:

I love Daniel Menche! I spend a few years lobbying for my workplace to offer him a residency (to no avail, obviously)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm Rich in Washington:

I was also at this open mic type Noise throwdown kind of event - one of those 'lots of young dudes in black hoodies fucking around with stompboxes on the floor' type shows. There was a lot of testosterone in the air. One kind of urban redneck type dude's set consisted of him going nuts with an angle grinder on something with a contact pickup on it and spraying everyone with hot sparks and chunks of hot metal. He then got really carried away and threw the angle grinder. He ended up being forcibly ejected from the event.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm Rich in Washington:

Daniel's a real nice guy. And his little dog, too.
  5:49pm NowhereBoy91:

What's that email to contact you, Ken?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm chresti:

Hello everlastings!
Avatar 5:50pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

We're here to listen. Email me anywhere, everywhere.
  5:50pm NowhereBoy91:

btw, Benjamen Walker had a show on WFMU all about noise music, it's called "Listening to Noise" and it's pretty great.
Avatar 5:51pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@NB91 Good stuff
  5:51pm NowhereBoy91:

Sorry, I lied. Benjamen Walker had an episode of his show TMI on Noise Music.
Avatar 5:51pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Welcome everchresti
Avatar 5:51pm fred:

@Rich: Funniest thing at a noise even (a harsh noise wall festival): seeing the bearded guys hanging out in front before it started, a guy comes up and asks "is this the mosque?". Weird timing as he came up at just the time nobody was holding a beer
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm Rich in Washington:

Hi chresti!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm chresti:

Hi Rich!
Avatar 5:55pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

As it seems to get clearer...we're nearing the end...resolution...nothing really has to change!

Avatar 5:57pm fred:

Ambra Senatore has done a dance show where she rearranges short dance phrases to build totally different narratives during the show (from party to murder)
Avatar 5:57pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

This hour, very different. Still some chaos. A lot more inputs.
Avatar 6:00pm fred:

Our Jill? was amazing, Kenzo. But I need to sleep now. Bye, until last week, or sometime
Avatar 6:03pm fred:

Wow, it's on last year's premium! (I haven't reached it yet)
Avatar 6:03pm northguineahills:

Did I miss Schnappi the Crocodile!!!!???? Crackers!

Went to check on my parents, and will be staying here for few days. Had an interview today for a remote position). (I do have an inherent dislike for NE FL).
Avatar 6:05pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

fred, great discovery. May you get lost.
Avatar 6:07pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

ngh: Schnappi is just getting going!
6:13pm Timeshift Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

There was an epileptic Jill who heard this one live
Avatar 6:17pm northguineahills:

Avatar 6:55pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Silence, what we all need.
Avatar 6:57pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Thanks for being in the pet shop this week, lovelies. The audio archive of this mysterious sound collage pair will appear 10 minutes after the hour (7:10pm Eastern Time).
