these documents show that station manager ken fulfilled his duties... and I think it's a real shame that people keep bringing it up
Avatar 5:22pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

If you're interested in hearing the facts...
Avatar 5:24pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Ooh maybe we're going to hear four FCC sign-offs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm fred:

Is that sound from the flooded Monty Hall?
Avatar 5:28pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

No politics for the next hour!
Avatar 5:28pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Yeah this is the only sound that gets through now

Good evening and surroundings, Kenzo!!

Avatar 5:41pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Henry, that's an amazing vocal rendition of Psycho Killer you did there
Avatar 5:50pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

My cat went crazy for that sound
  5:51pm Johnzon:

you should build an ark
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm fred:

So that loop is from Dire Straits. I had been wondering, as I had only heard it as part of your show
Avatar 5:55pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Yeah, it's from the part that leads into the section that much later War on Drugs imitated and greatly expanded on in Eyes to the Wind
Avatar 5:56pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

teasing taste of that at the end
Avatar 5:56pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

More minimalism this half hour.
  5:57pm possibilitywaves:

Yes; it is continuously special to experience how music being presented within the show sort of becomes like the root of how memory exists and learns, made concurrently alive in completely new dimensions!!
Avatar 5:57pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I showed up with a whole bunch of stuff to play with and instead hit play on this Terminator piece, which then became the source for the whole show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm listener james from westwood:

¡Viene la tormenta!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm fred:

I might listen to the whole track someday, but probably not. I'm sure you picked the best part, and I'd get impatient with whatever leads to it. I do like that loop

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm fred:

@RevRab: I thought about you earlier today when Scott McDowell played a Jimi Hendrix/Juma Sultan track called Sundance (you probably know that one)
Avatar 6:10pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Still get the Terminator scary nightclub scene mixed up with the other early 80's Brad Fiedel-scored film, Fright Night. Both are great scary nightclub scenes.
Avatar 6:11pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@fred: Whut? No.
I'll check this... :

  6:11pm Martinibomb:

hi Kenzo
Avatar 6:12pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Welcome to the other side, Martinibomb
Avatar 6:14pm Carmichael:

Kenzo, have you ever done a THX1138 show? Where the robot cops are coaxing Duvall down from the ladder, "you have nowhere to go".
  6:15pm Martinibomb:

It's a good place for someone like myself to unwind after a hard day o radio. I do two shows in a row. One on Freeform Portland then that Sheena's one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm fred:

@Carm: I think THX1138 samples have been used on this show before
Avatar 6:16pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Ha, Carmichael, have I ever done a THX-1138 show? One of the favorite things I've ever done:

"You Have Nowhere to Go (What's wrong?)"
lastever.org...

(also replayed in the second hour of lastever.org... )
Avatar 6:17pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Stay calm. Everything will be all right. You in my hands. You have nowhere to go. You have nowhere to go.
Avatar 6:18pm Carmichael:

SHould have never asked ... I just thought of it during this Terminator stuff. "Come with me, if you want to live."
Avatar 6:18pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

It's also on my first WFMU premium DVD, "To Decadence in Obsolescence (two-decade dance cadence)" from the 20th anniversary of this show
Avatar 6:19pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

He will not stop until you are dead. It's what he does. It's all he does!

these documents show that station manager ken fulfilled his duties extravagantly
Avatar 6:19pm Carmichael:

That should be in the FMU store, Kenzo.
  6:19pm Martinibomb:

THX1138 got me into sampling. That was one of the first things I ever collaged together on my Amiga w/8bit sampler
Avatar 6:20pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@Carmichael: It's all out of stock at WFMU, but I've got a bunch sitting right here.
Avatar 6:22pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

It looks like I'm making a third premium MP3 DVD: "Unopened Packages (you can make everything)"
Avatar 6:23pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Wow I must've been in some kinda fugue not to remember Brad Fiedel's name
Avatar 6:24pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I never got to do a KVRX fill-in at going-on-air time, that would've been fun
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm fred:

Great news! I love walking at night listening to these shows. It's a different experience, I might even prefer it to listening at home
Avatar 6:26pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Jeepers - yer a podcast, now I think of it...
Avatar 6:27pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Oh nooooooooooooooo
Avatar 6:27pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

P.S. podcast: lastever.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm fred:

I guess the best thing would be listening live while walking, but that would require my getting a smartphone, and I'd rather not go there
  6:29pm possibilitywaves:

Yes, Johnzon; recently I have been wondering lately about how basically everything is low to mid level hypnosis, with the exception of: KLERE, and actual ongoing dialogue between one or more people! Hypnosis is ok but getting beyond it seems to include everything good about it without the subduction effects!
Avatar 6:30pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

fred don't go there
Avatar 6:30pm Carmichael:

@fred, how do you listen to the archives while walking?
Avatar 6:32pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Everything is Suggestion.
The Medium is the Massage.
W/in the province of the mind - what I believe to be true is true - w/in the limits to be found experimentally or experientially. These limits are further beliefs to be transcended.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm fred:

@Carmichael: Kenzo's premium. I load one of the old shows to my mp3 player and I'm good to go
Avatar 6:34pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...*or - becomes true...
Avatar 6:35pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

The premium should just BE an MP3 player
Avatar 6:35pm Carmichael:

Aha, thanks. I'm so used to the iPhone app and everything being in real time.
Avatar 6:35pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I remember at my first station when Radiohead's OK Computer was just released, and they sent us a promo copy of it on cassette, glued permanently into a tape walkman.
Avatar 6:35pm Carmichael:

FMU gave out that thumb drive a few years back, full of righteous tunes.
Avatar 6:39pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@rr struth
Avatar 6:40pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I am so entertained by remixing classical. It's funny I only do it about once every couple of years
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm fred:

@Carmichael: When my boss asks how I can be reached out of hours, I just say I can't. That's part of the point. Same idea with people who will show up late: I say when I'll give up and leave, their call to show up within that window or not
Avatar 6:42pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

+1
  6:44pm Johnzon:

I love walking at night in some kinda fugue I collaged together that will not stop until you are nowhere in my hands. Stay calm in the province of the mind. Hypnosis is an experience glued permanently into an ongoing dialogue between a cassette and unopened Packages to be transcended once every couple of years.
Avatar 6:44pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

  6:47pm possibilitywaves:

It is interesting to consider Deeper Understanding and the current phone situation. Computers were never ""little" black boxes" especially not at the time of the song's origins, (nor did they really have a "voice console")!
Avatar 6:49pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Hmm, hadn't noticed
  6:49pm possibilitywaves:

It would be simple to adjust the lyrics to be about phones; ``I was lost, I was alone, without my spy satellite phone`` / Orbiting around me like a friend``
Avatar 6:49pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

What were black boxes, then?
  6:52pm Johnzon:

thank you all for listening to your own possibilitywaves
Avatar 6:52pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

'zon again 'zoff again
  6:53pm Johnzon:

Avatar 6:54pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Next week, something very very very new, I suspect. Made live on air Monday 2-4pm ET (WTJU, link at lastever.org ), then remade into a playlist experience here on WFMU's Give the Drummer Radio next Wednesday 5-7pm ET. Soooo much thank you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm listener james from westwood:

I speak for all mediocrities! I am their champion. I am their patron saint!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm Gary:

Is next week the official 25th?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm fred:

Kenzo@6:49: Maybe she had a NeXT. It counted as little back then
Avatar 6:56pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

But ehhhhh computers were already obviously obsessive and evil way before 1989
Avatar 6:57pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Oh yeah Gary I'm terrible about celebrating birthdays. But yeah uhhh it's in 2 weeks actually. 25 years of this last radio show.
Avatar 6:57pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@james I absolve you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm fred:

people have been for far longer
Avatar 6:59pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Palette cleansing complete. Bye loves. Audio archive of this 4-show black box set will be right here in 10 minutes...!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00pm Webhamster Henry:

Thanks for the time warp, Kenzo!
  7:01pm possibilitywaves:

To play the tape backwards, we see human beings eventually melt back into eons of life within nature and then back into other forms including perhaps uniquely striped and spotted arboreal friends! We did have a balance for a very long time thankfully, despite what happened since!
Avatar 7:04pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Big bang black box theory
  7:06pm possibilitywaves:

Thank you Kenzo! Already glad to be in the KLERE realm again soon!
