Years ago, before I'd ever been to the studios or pledged during a marathon, I decided to volunteer at an 'FMU Record Fair (which I'd been a regular attendee at for several years prior...) to see what it was all about. The person who used to have my job (the lovely and talented and formidable Jenni Matz) was to meet me at the Pavilion for early morning setup on the first day of the Fair."},{"startTime":{"@attributes":{"msec":""}},"title":"Comment: When I walked into the empty hall at shortly past 8 AM, the first thing I saw was a woman (Jenni) running at top speed directly towards me with mascara streaked across her face, demanding to know if I was the guy from A-Z Party Rental Supplies. Apparently, the company that was scheduled to deliver the 200 tables and 400 chairs that are needed for the Fair decided to not show up, causing both a major catastrophe and a major stressfest (rightfully so) for Jenni. As she threw her hands up in near disgust when I told her that I was just a volunteer, something clicked somewhere in my mind that told me I had arrived somewhere good. 'I want your job someday' is what I told myself, as I watched her punch a number into her cellphone, while muttering all manner of obscenity under her breath."},{"startTime":{"@attributes":{"msec":""}},"title":"Comment: And what a funny old world we live in.
