His 30 soundtrack credits include John Frankenheimer’s “Manchurian Candidate” and “Young Savages” and Elia Kazan’s “Splendor In The Grass” and “The Arrangement,” a mere sliver of David’s incredible accomplishments collaborating with the likes of Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, Monk, Mingus, Miles, Aaron Copeland, Dylan, Patti Smith and Willie Nelson.

These selections were supplemented by songs from several of the group’s contemporaries, as well as tunes from HC100 mainstay Nick Heyward’s later career as a pop auteur of the highest order.

Present at the earliest days of recorded jazz, Garvin Bushell was a master of the clarinet, oboe, sax, and, most intriguingly, bassoon, on which he performed in the 1920s with Bessie Smith, Fats Waller & the Louisiana Sugar Babes. By the 1960s, he remained in demand, playing on crucial sessions for Miles Davis, Eric Dolphy, and John Coltrane.
