Pedro interviews Amaro Freitas a pioneer of the new sound of Brazilian Jazz. Freitas is a prodigious percussive young pianist with an approach to Jazz that draws as much on his Pernambuco traditions as it does on the music of Coltrane, Parker, Chick Corea and Thelonious Monk.

Trouble interviews Jane Duffus, author of These Things Happen, the Sarah Records Story, a definitive history of the British independent label that ran from 1987 to 1995. Sarah records was a secret world, located in the heart of Bristol, whose music is still much-loved today. The book is an oral history including interviews with every Sarah band with chapters on fanzines and the vitriolic London music press. Duffus provides a social history of the indy UK music world: before the proliferation of the internet, when fans sent coins through the Royal Post to their beloved Sarah label run by Clare Wadd and Matt Haynes.

Tammy has been lighting up the alt-cabaret circuit in New York for years with her faux Christian country act or inhabiting the persona of Marianne Faithfull. She's also channeled Cherie Currie and Debbie Harry in Runaways and Blondie tribute bands on the local rock club circuit. Her latest project is a revival of her "Nico: Underground" show, coming in May to Joe's Pub.

Joudy, made up of three Venezuelan cousins, bring their heavy sounds to the WFMU airwaves! Originally a five-piece, the band fell apart in the mid 20-teens as the Venezuelan political situation worsened. The three current members re-started the group in NYC in 2019. Their album Destroy All Monsters was one of Evan’s faves of last year; tune in and hear why. Catch them live at The Broadway in Brooklyn on Friday April 26.
