Ms. T, it's a clever example of back-forming a joke. Shea and Wilson (both of whom I got friendly with in their late years) concocted an organization called the Justified Ancients of Mummu as being referred to by, "Kick out the JAMs," i.e. to purge them. I forgot whether they back-formed Mummu as well or whether that existed.
