Age has broadened my musical tastes almost to a point of "anything goes"! How I hated Wunderlich when I was young. Now I simply" turn up the volume, it's Klaus!" Today's show is greeeeaaat. :-)

love the GoT gif :D

i'm like you in that regard, Dave in St Albans UK!
Avatar 11:44am
spodiodi:

i must just know that senor coconut version from wfmu (just checked discogs, and you probably already knew but moog cookbook is the artist -- it's not a compilation, and, they don't cover jeepster.) TL;DR: ignore me :D

PeeWee's big underpants routine kills me.. i love his stand-up version too -- wow. yes.

(stand-up or maybe it was a stage production of peewee's playhouse. again, please ignore me. will cease typing for the time being :" )

no worries. I'm glad my comment board doesn't stay empty ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50am
Rich in Washington:

In the earlier days of the internet, I remember a friend posting their music to mp3.com and actually making a fair amount of money off of clicks. Then one of their tracks were randomly featured and they ended up getting a really huge check.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50am
Rich in Washington:

I also have a friend who used to get paid handsomely for writing reviews on All Music Guide.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52am
Jan Turkenburg:

I never tried that... :-(
Avatar 11:52am
spodiodi:

didn't mp3.com start out as a place to store and "sideload" mp3s? i used to use it when it was like that -- the Lindows guy started it, i think. i stopped paying attention. but i guess it became something else. and that's cool, Rich!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53am
Rich in Washington:

Yeah, that stage show was my entry into the world of Pee Wee, when it was featured on HBO.
Avatar 11:53am
spodiodi:

had a friend who had a full time gig for a while writing summaries for ???? some kind of media... like... 2 sentece summaries. he didn't love the job
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am
Rich in Washington:

I'm not sure how it started out. I just remember it was a site where you could feature your music and you actually got paid for clicks and streams. The suddenly, they weren't paying squat.
Avatar 11:54am
spodiodi:

cool again, Rich. i love PeeWee
  11:54am
Martinibomb:

I loved mp3.com found lots of great stuff there
  11:54am
Martinibomb:

Bandcamp is the most similar thing to mp3.com in awhile
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56am
Rich in Washington:

And not sure when but in the early days of AMG, they had a small handful of contributors. My friend Rolf was a really prolific one. Avant Garde Freak-Folker Eugene Chadbourne was another.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am
Rich in Washington:

I think AMG just eventually started paying pennies on the dollar compared to what they had previously been paying.
Everyone's a content creator of some form. The bottom has fallen out in the creativity market. Which is why there are so many people either writing terrible reviews or outright ripping other peoples reviews off.
Avatar 11:57am
spodiodi:

i remember i used it to share my collection between home and work (i think then it may have been nerfed or shut down completely... i'll have to poke around. *shakes fist at memory*)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am
Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, MB. I should browse through Bandcamp more than i do... but then again... there. is. so. much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am
Rich in Washington:

I've been doing a lot of shopping on Bandcamp, especially on weekends where all the money goes to the artists.
  12:00pm

Bandcamp is actually a profitable business so their model is working. Spotify.. not so much
