Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

"Non...C'est Rien" was composed by Jourdan, Baselli & Canfora. The English lyrics were written by Colby. Oddly, a 1965 Billboard article appears to report that Jourdan composed the French lyrics for Barbra Streisand, who recorded it in 1966, suggesting it didn't originally have lyrics. Yet the article refers to "Barbra Streisand's Gallic version of 'Free Again.'" This suggests Colby wrote English lyrics before Jourdan wrote French lyrics. Meanwhile, a year later in 1967 Jacqueline Danno recorded a French version again attributed to Jourdan, Baselli & Canfora.

Phillippe Bastille:

Hey everyone, I am monitoring an auction on a BIC 860 turntable. It's an on-line auction so I can't test its functionality. It looks intact, with dust cover. No idea what the cartridge is, but I would imagine it's a good one. Any thoughts on the turntable in general and what a reasonable bid should be given it may not work? Apologies if this isn't the right venue to ask this kind of question.

Wait, what was the question? A Dec. 2014 article in IAJRC Journal details Gaillard's recordings for Bel-Tone in '45 and '46 with Dizzie and Bird. It reads, "The basic recording group was always Gaillard’s working Trio to which other musicians were added. The Trio consisted of Slim Gaillard, electric guitar and vocals; Bam Brown, bass; and Zutty Singleton, drums." Trying to figure out the fourth in the Bee Bee Quartette?
