I'm more familiar with the version of Scotch Blues by Blakey in '57. Along with Jackie McLean, the session boasted one of the great names in jazz on bass: Spanky DeBrest.

Someone screened a print of Ornette In America here back in the 80s when I saw it. I think Shirley Clark came with it. I remember this scene with a wild-eyed Ornette saying that he wanted to be castrated because his sexual thoughts were getting in the way of the music.

For a couple years I had a favorite coffee shop in Montreal's Vieux Port. I wish I could remember the name...started with a C, as I recall. Anyway, this was late '90s, when CDs were the format of choice for music storage. The proprietors left CDs scattered about the store, among them the two disc Hilliard recital of Gesualdo's Tenebrae: https://www.discogs.com/Gesualdo-The-Hilliard-Ensemble-Tenebrae/master/581777 I asked them to spin it, and they did. I spent a marvelous hour or so there.
