This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

WR, in the summer of 1966 I was 10/11 and You're Gonna Miss Me was getting airplay on KFWB in Los Angeles. In August we drove up to San Francisco in our new car, and the anticipation of getting there had me totally jacked. We were approaching the city from the south on the 101, and we were next to the airport You're Gonna Miss Me came on KYA which was one of the powerhouse AM stations at the time. I was so berserk with joy, I was jumping up and down in the back seat. It was on constant rotation the whole time we were there.

Avatar 8:26pm

@TDK: those figures seemed a little weird to me - there's also stats that say more than half support the protests. they're always trying to launder support for aggression with skewed demographic polls; but then again this is America

Flash, you should read Ron Porambo's "No Cause for Indictment: An Autopsy of Newark," a truly excellent account of what led up to 1967 and the falsification of evidence against protestors and failure to hold police and National Guardsmen accountable afterwards.
