Dean:

Still haven't made it through the 34CD Scott Ross traversal of Scarlatti sonatas, but I have heard all 26 of the Anthology of the Recorder. Of all four recent-ish acquisitions, I'm going to guess that the Ross box is the winner. Utterly beautiful music utterly beautifully performed. Each disk improves upon the prior one.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 4:43pm
chresti:

Oh, pretty well, only had to kick a couple people off the courts. Had a lot of phone calls, first day back after it closed down due to the fire (or something)threat.
Avatar 4:43pm
TDK60:

Gosh, and I used to think a 3-LP record album was a stretch.
Avatar 4:47pm
TDK60:

Chresti, why did you have to ask them to leave?
  4:49pm
Dean:

I was immunized against giant box sets around the time of the Ross release in 1988, when KPFK played the whole thing start to finish. I tried to listen to as much as possible then. Only acquired it last year, though!
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 4:50pm
Brian in UK:

Dean, is the Scarlatti mainly harpsichord?
  4:52pm
Dean:

Entirely harpsichord, recorded in two or three venues, so the sound varies a little from disc to disc, particularly given the vintage.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 4:53pm
Bas NL:

Yesterday on Techtonic Webhamster Henry linked to talktotransformer.com It's an AI, neural net, text generator. Tried by entering 'Heroicredolphysiognomystery' and it went haywire!
Avatar 4:53pm
Listening Out There:

I'm late, but I'm here...mostly...
  4:54pm
Dean:

Oops. Keyboard excerpted my comment. I meant that the sound of the Ross box is really good, particularly given the vintage.
Avatar 4:55pm
TDK60:

Of course, a 3-LP album (like Sandinista by The Clash) is different from a box set collection..
  4:55pm
Dean:

But best harpsichord recording of which I'm aware is a 2LP Goldberg Variations on a label operated long ago by Yves-Bernard Andre.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm

Sounds like what happens when you computer "translate" back and forth between languages, often resulting in wonderful linguistic chaos.
