coel! I didn't get to say hello last show. Btw, today's Temp Res offering is one I already own, and enjoy. One of the band members is from a the band Grails. If you haven't already, delve into Grails. They are a gift that keeps giving.

so, was it a Windows update or an Apple update that was messing with things last night? Another fun night for the WFMU Tech Support crew though
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13am
Mr. Pumpy:

mariano...ups and downs. I feel like the neglected spouse sometimes, but I have to keep reminding myself of two things; his compromised state, and the fact that he was never much for a thank you with his family to begin with. Otherwise...I am too getting into pursuits, geeky
and otherwise, and it works! I have my SG and Fender amp over here now...and I'm going to grab my pedal board this weekend.

@mariano: Support? Dude it is a free download. You think that the USPS is taking Bandcamp donations for canned hold music from whatever vendor they use for their system?
Avatar 12:15am

Hi.. Fantastic tracks! You're the reason I became a donor the last 2 years. I haven't listened in a while and I'm wondering if there's something wrong with my computer, not being too tech savvy. But I keep hearing sounds like from a video game.. is that part of the song? Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15am
Mr. Pumpy:

coel, yes...Watter. I don't think I got to yesterday's in time. Good? Again, I can't stress enough that you should check Grails out. One of my favorite instrumental acts. grails.bandcamp.com...

mariano:

Yeah Mr. P, I'm sure that underneath it all he's really grateful for everything you're doing for him. Love me an SG too, been too long since I've played one. If I pick up an instrument these days it's my Höfner bass -- the cheap one, not the Macca violin bass -- such a nice bubbly sound.

Jake: Oh, I thought it was the actual USPS being all meta and ironic and letting you name your price.

mariano, thanks man. You are so spot-on there. I try to remind myself of all of that in the heat of the moment(s). It ain't easy, but I know it's true. It doesn't help that the heat has been on, even through a few days that reached 80...and a bit humid. He's always cold and me and the thermometer are both seeing red! Hey, my pops is alive...and ain't nothing wrong with that. I'm just trying to get by, and my venting here from time to time is a help, so I thank you for that. I try to mix it up, but sometimes I can't help it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28am
Mr. Pumpy:

mariano, Yes...I love my SG. I'm set up to record over here. I can come up with a click and some riffage if you wan to lay down some bass. Can you record...primitive stuff man. If you can listen on headphones and record in any fashion...could be cool!

@coel...you can stream for free there, and listen for quite some time. I would suggest Doomsdayer's Holiday and Black Tar Prophecies. I own a bunch of vinyl which I may not have cashed the digital codes in for, if I find any I'll hook you up.
  12:33am
JakeGould:

@ToTetsu: “Wheaties” is supposed to be a healthy cereal, but the reality is it’s just a big pile of fibre. So I guess taking a number two is the closest thing to exercise most Americans get.

Would love to give it a shot Mr. P, but I need to get a new M-Audio thingy, the one I've had for ages conked out a few months ago and I've been too lazy to replace it. Or some other brand, M-Audio is just what I'm used to.

Jake, there are a lot of muscles involved with a good bowel movement...so I'm sure the argument has been made. Especially in this crazy downside-up world.

Pretty much 90% of breakfast grain-based stuff that “Gives you energy…” is just sugar with fiber. Get a sugar rush, take a dump, be a champion.

Er... no amp either, lol. The Höfner's got a hollow body so I can hear it well enough unplugged. I got so used to plugging in via the pre-amp I barely realized I haven't had any kind of amp in ages. If a couple of work projects I'm negotiating come to pass I'm gonna revamp my music setup, long overdue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46am

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05am

coel, mariano, you may dig on this as well, I have a great amp guy here in Jersey, Chuck, who used to have a shop the next town over when I was a teen and then I got hooked back up with him in my 30s when he was working out of his basement. He's an amp master and a solid dude. I had been going there for almost a decade since meeting up with him again, and a year or two ago he mentions a gig he has over the weekend. We get to bullshitting and he is telling me about his gig and I ask him the name of his band, anyhow, it turns out that he is the guitar player for Larry Chance and The Earls. Next thing I know his wife is yelling down the driveway fro him to come inside and move some of his shit. Ha! "Life is but a dream" www.youtube.com...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25am
Mr. Pumpy:

coel...awesome! I would say you'd be better off reviving them and using them traditionally. So much wattage goes through an instrument amplifier. I say that even if you don't want to have it too loud, but monitors and cabs are built for speed because the high power can color the tone so well. BUT...you never know!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26am
mariano:

Kind of close on the first syllable Mr. P. Sorry coela, no cigar, womp wommmp! It's "NACK-uh-dish" or sometimes "NACK-uh-tish". Makes no sense in terms of its spelling, but whaddya gonna do?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29am

hmm yeah i have thought about that. i don't need another pair of large, heavy hi-fi speakers; but i sure's hell don't want to ruin these, the speakers i learned about music on.

Ahhh...I am up and down 87 all the time. I like New Paltz, my aunt used to live there. Anyhow, if they are functional, not rotted at all, I may be able to give them a proper home. Obviously I wouldn't want to do it unless they can still take some abuse, and of course if you wanted to make a deal. At that age...there may be some dry rot on the cones, or no?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40am
Mr. Pumpy:

Yo, things are rubbery and funky up in this piece!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45am
coelacanth∅:

Pumpy the foam is shot, but that's an easy fix. the speakers are good.
i might use them and unload my genesis.
...i'll have to think about it. i do remember how good these sounded.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46am
Mr. Pumpy:

coel, now that I think more about it, you could get them going for some real clean, mellow guitar stuff without worrying too much. Probably not much beyond that...but who knows?! Anyhow. I trashed a classic set of Fischer Studio Standard speaker cabs with 15" woofers when I moved two years ago. I watched the garbage truck chew them up, and I regret it...but I had to downsize. So...I am in the market for some vintage cones once again, hence my idea, if you decide to get rid of them, give me a holler.

dad's like sure! like a refurbish...even though there was nothing wrong with the old foam.
. . . i don't know how long the new foam lasted but when he signed off, dec.2018 i took the front off the cabinets and the foam just poured out.
i wonder how the original foam would've been.

Mr. Pumpy:

Okay folks. I'm going to push off and move into the next phase of my evening while pops slumbers. That phase is making a couple of soft tacos the size of my head and watching TV. Sad, true, and lovely...lest it kill me before I stop this madness!

coelacanth∅:

... i'll keep it in mind Pumpy. first i'll replace the foam and hook 'em up.

Mr. Pumpy:

coel..weird! the old foam could have been better. But, as with many things in life, who the fuck knows?! sorry your ops passed not long ago. At all, really...at least he doesn't need to witness this madness! Hope you don't mind me saying...

Heh! Chawduz, like my great-uncle Ant'ny said it. Welcome back Mr P!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26am
Mr. Pumpy:

Chawduz...nice. I see the reference., but it sounds like some folks from Queens & Brooklyn (my motherlands) would have said 'chowders' back in the day. No...wait, it would have been more like ChOWduz. I see the 'chaw' distinction. I hear an amalgamation like this, "Ow many dypes uh chowduz did day ahv ovah awn chawduz?

Sorry, was away for a bit - Mr. Pumpy, Hubig is referring to Melpomene and Dryades Streets, two of many that have curious pronunciations. And yeah, you're right about the NYC connection. Some New Orleanians sound like they're from the East Coast, especially people here of Italian descent.

Here, check this clip out, one of my favorites. Six-min local TV clip about NOLA accents. Tell me if that first girl doesn't sound like she's from the NY area! www.youtube.com...

I feel this type of accent travels among females much more. I could be wrong. Seems that way though.
