spacebrother:

@ Rich - Yes. I think we should do those more often.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm
Rich in Washington:

It's gonna be interesting shuffling my crate in response to what you're playing this afternoon, Don-O. I've got some Willner related stuff coming up but actually enjoy playing it by ear, selectionwise.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:05pm
Rich in Washington:

I played a bunch of Willner stuff on last night's KBOO show so feel like I got a lot of it out of my system.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm
StringOFperils:

Hats off to Hal Wilner....and all of the great musicians on these projects. They were stupendous.
Avatar 6:08pm
Don-O:

I could have taken the audio from some of those 'Sunday Night' shows if I had more time.
Avatar 6:08pm
spacebrother:

Wow! Mr. Mike! SWOON!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh man. I've never heard this album!
Avatar 6:09pm
Don-O:

...with Martin Mull!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm
Rich in Washington:

The novel Magic Christian is quite funny. Almost nothing like the film, which I also love.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:12pm
StringOFperils:

Southern's novel 'Blue Movie' is pretty great. It's about the production of a porn film.
Avatar 6:12pm
Don-O:

...and Michael J. Pollard.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

For a second i thought i was on a different stream and this was Hearty White!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm
Rich in Washington:

eat that ticket!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm
StringOFperils:

Mull. Pollard. Great voices. Ha ha. this is great. Never knew about this.
Avatar 6:16pm
spacebrother:

My mantra is "Avoid fuck-ups."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm
StringOFperils:

Saw him read this a few times. Priceless.
Avatar 6:18pm
Don-O:

Jonathan Winters is also in that Southern album
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18pm
StringOFperils:

Cut up the cut up the cup technique. Art eats itself.
Avatar 6:23pm
spacebrother:

I have that Weill tribute album too. Holy Hour Of Crap!
Avatar 6:23pm
Don-O:

Is the stream doing okay? I keep hearing some skips during my babbling.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm
StringOFperils:

Nothing VILE about this hour.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm
StringOFperils:

it is hiccuping a fair bit...it was during GeorgyGirl's show as well
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm
Rich in Washington:

It's a bit skippy. Really intermittent, but seems stable now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm
StringOFperils:

yes. perfectly tolerable
Avatar 6:25pm
Don-O:

Oh, long distance broadcasting hick-ups strikes again.
Avatar 6:31pm
Don-O:

OH! Happy Birthday, Martin Denny. Not related to any of this, but it ha not stopped me in the first place.
Avatar 6:32pm
spacebrother:

This is the one I remember from that album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

yes, this was a highlight for sure!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm
Rich in Washington:

This was the first Willner related thing I ever bought. I sure enjoy this album. Definitely NOT soothing music. I always feel like an anvil's about to come down on me when listening to this album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm
StringOFperils:

This original Warner cartoon is so racist. Quite an eye opener.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Rich in Washington: and one must double-check to make sure one still has solid ground under one's supergenius paws!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39pm
Rich in Washington:

But you only fall if you look down!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Rich in Washington: there's just no winning!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm
StringOFperils:

You get to turn into an accordion at the bottom, so it's worth the experience.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm
Rich in Washington:

It's OK. I have this tiny parasol.
Avatar 6:41pm
Don-O:

Not enough room for the cannon?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm
StringOFperils:

thank you for the overview
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm
Rich in Washington:

Baby Gramps!
I've met him! Fascinating fellow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

ah! i always enjoy a Baby Gramps rendition!!!
Avatar 6:44pm
Don-O:

As much as I can squeeze into an hour!! I got lucky....Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Don-O: a bargain at twice the price. Thanks!!!
Avatar 6:45pm
Don-O:

So Baby Gramps is a guy, not a group....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Baby Gramps is a movement! (and an individual feller)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm
Rich in Washington:

Yes, and true to his name, he looks like a very young ancient person. Kind of weirdly ageless with a long beard.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm
Rich in Washington:

He's also a model train enthusiast, which is what we talked about for some reason. He makes these weird post-apocalyptic looking train dioramas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

He's another grandparent who has been that way since before he was an elder. I still gots a little ways to go before i earn true elder status.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm
StringOFperils:

cool ! I'll have to see if I can find those dioramas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm
Rich in Washington:

and 'old soul' as my mother-in-law calls them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm
Rich in Washington:

I think if you google Baby Gramps and find his website, there is a page with his train builds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm
StringOFperils:

www.google.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm
Rich in Washington:

Yep.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm
Rich in Washington:

I have this weird, perhaps inaccurate memory that Gramps had a photo album with him and was showing actual pictures to me, but not sure that's true. I do have somewhere a picture of him showing me this 100 year old cigarbox violin that he'd found.
Avatar 6:51pm
spacebrother:

I've always loved this version of Pink Elephants.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm
Rich in Washington:

So far, Don-O, I've only had to scrap playing two songs from my upcoming set. Happily very little overlap to our shows.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm
StringOFperils:

This was a really nice LP(that I have in a box somewhere)...great Rodney Allan Greenblatt painting on the cover.
Avatar 6:53pm
Don-O:

I use to have the promo poster to Stay Awake on my wall.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm
StringOFperils:

nice
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm
Rich in Washington:

I had this weird radio promo version of Spare Ass Annie, with commentary by Willner and others, and with censored tracks for radio play but I cannot find it for the life of me. I think I sold it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm
Rich in Washington:

Hi folks!
I'll be over here spinning for you directly after this show right here: wfmu.org...
Avatar 6:56pm
Don-O:

I think the "censored" part was the reason I never got that promo CD. Yea, I know, I'm being snobby.
Avatar 6:57pm
Don-O:

RICH!!!!....is coming up....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm
StringOFperils:

Beautifully subverted. Wilner. Bon voyage.
Avatar 6:59pm
Don-O:

Oh, yea. This track was co-produced by Van Dyke Parks!
