Mary Wing, yesterday on Das Continental Subway w/David Dichelle, there was some conversation about a show-specific icon for those who donate to their show. (forget which listener suggested, but BAM a Kenzo appeared, letting David know this was still a possibility for this marathon... i wonder if you could do the same, if you were interested (and don't already have one) AND if you haven't i wonder if the 100 emoji, or something like it, wouldn't suit your program.) johnzo i don't know if there's some statistical usage of those stars (maybe Kenzo knows?)
but i don't care. i use them for my own purpose, which -in the case of songs it's to remember to explore an artist further, or to obtain a copy of that song for my own collection. (but then i rarely un-star it after doing the exploring)
in the case of episodes it's to remember to listen to that one again.
in the case of "favorite programs" it's fairly pointless, because some of them don't stick anyway.
Avatar 🛎 Swag For Life Member 1:32pm
Phillippe Bastille:

Spodiodi, Handy Art, jewelry, and audio equipment are all I look for anymore. I've found some really nice art works for cheap because they don't know how to price them. Best so far was a signed and numbered Alexandre Minguet litho for $5 and a Csekovszky pottery piece for about the same. I really don't know much about art, except for what I like, but I do know how to google when I'm in the store...
Avatar 🛎 Swag For Life Member 1:32pm
Handy Haversack:

@coela, I think SMK does indeed look at clicky-star stats when making programming decisions, but I have no insight into what is and is not meaningful in that. I star episodes and shows because a flat list of songs I liked seems to overwhelming for me to process or make use of.

1985: small boathouse, infested w/ seaotters using it as a toilet, a remote fijord on the west of Vancouver Island. Incessent rain, low cloud cover, bears wailing at night, slugs the size of your fist, psilocybin mushrooms the size of your head, only the National Weather forecast on the shortwave.
Don't remember much else, don't remember the Cure, just the disease.

Phillippe @ 1:32 -- cool. best thing i ever bought from a Goodwill was a 1934 Singer sewing machine. pefect and complete. with extras. a beautiful piece of furniture (i ruined with beer in college, i believe -- a shame, but i sold it toa good collector who paid me well.)

The best thing I got at a Goodwill - an Edison Voicewriter from about 1967 that inscribes 7" ruby red vinylite records. Some prerecorded records were in there and some blanks.

@PB 1:54 Only 2000 favorite songs show up on your public profile page right now, for site performance reasons. But they're all stored and they still come into play elsewhere on the site besides your public profile page, and one day they'll all show up there, too.

been away from the visuals, working...but @1.54 yes i'll take credit for figuring that out, thank you! (and i think it was steveo ? who worked out the number...but i thought it was 2000)

This set has been a revelation for me. Not a Cure fan, nothing against them, they were just after my time and while I recognize their place in the flow of creative pop, haven't listened much to them. Very good song choice Mary, though its many interpretations sorta leads to it being the one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm
coelacanth∅:

there it is yes i thought it was 2000.
so Kenzo i can't check right now but it's mostly drummer stream shows -i "favorite" them and then a week later they are not favorited; and the stars don't show up on the grid schedule.
(i know explorers room was one of them.
...i stopped caring and trying a year or 2 ago)

@spodiodi 2:14 I haven't sold anything yet, though when retirement rolls around I may have to :/ If I'm not going to use it or display it, I leave it be. Those old sewing machines are cool -- we've found some old stuff that we liked and repurposed. Our bathroom vanity is a late 40s/early 50s tv cabinet, and we're using a couple old standing humidors for night stands

Mining a motherlode of Close to Me covers, Mary. So hard to pick a favourite...so I'll avoid it. Thx for 3OAK, and the genial company. Seeya later, maybe in person in two weeks today, provided the country isn't shut down, down there. Buying some masks, will travel if possible.
